During my visit I planned on diving at Marathon Key Florida, but was not sure who to choose as there are many dive shops available. I decided to travel around and check out some of them. I settled on Captain Hook and was very pleased with the outcome. They have a very professional staff And they are very knowledgeable and have been handling dives for well over two decades. They have all the gear that you need, which is good since I forgot some of my own.

On our dive, we had four divers and about 10 snorkelers and there’s plenty to do and see for everybody. Our dive master was excellent and she did a fine job. The captain was a seasoned veteran and handled the boat expertly and his crew was right on top of things and they knew exactly what to do every step of the way. One thing that would’ve been a nice treat would be to have some orange slices available after our dive. Between the dry air from the tanks and the seawater having something to get rid of the taste, would’ve been welcome.

The next time I plan a visit to Marathon Key, I will look up Captain Hook and plan on diving with them in the future. The price was very reasonable at about $100 for a two tank dive and I rented all of the gear including a wetsuit for about $39. I did not have a dive computer, but for these short dives and not very deep to visit the coral reefs, it was really not needed.

Great dive shop with excursions. We did the reef dive (2 dives). Pricing was more than reasonable. We were asked to be there 1 hour before the trip. Check in and equipment setup was fast and easy. Crew were super friendly and helpful to the 8 divers on the trip. Dive was scheduled for 8:30am-12:30 pm. We were back by 11:30 given the efficiency of the crew (no time was deducted from the two dives we did). We’ll be back!

Diving with Captain hooks was a great experience. We arrived right after hurricane Helene, which stirred up the waters quite a lot and that wasn’t good visibility wise. The first days dives got rescheduled, but eventually the waters cleared up and we could made our first drives, Looe reef is and awesome dive spot with tones of fish to spot. our last dives were in key west where we had a wreck dive on the Vandy, waters were very clear by that time and we could see the wreck from the surface. The crews of all three locations are awesome and very very helpful and experienced, a special shout out to the following crew members, captains Ron and Evan, divemasters Alyssa, Mark, Bill and Steve and first mate Shelby, thanks the trip was great, but you guys made it awesome!

Unforgettable Scuba Experience – The Best Instructors & Company! Caption Hooks

I can’t say enough great things about my experience with Captain Hooks and their incredible instructors, Joey and David! From start to finish, everything was absolutely top-notch.

The team was professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly, patient. As a new diver (Second time diving with Captain Hooks), I felt completely safe and supported throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I was comfortable and confident before getting in the water. Their passion for diving and marine life was contagious, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Once underwater, it was truly magical. The instructors guided us seamlessly, pointing out incredible marine life and making sure we had an unforgettable dive. Their expertise and calm demeanor made it easy to relax and fully enjoy the experience.

Whether you’re a first-time diver or a seasoned pro, I can’t recommend Captain Hooks and their amazing team enough. If you’re looking for an adventure that is both thrilling and safe, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back for more dives in the future!
David and Joey hands down made our Vacation!!!

Fantastic experience! We’re writing this review for two reasons, one because Capt Brad and Maddie were awesome….friendly and extremely knowledgeable! And two, to let the Captain’s family know that he is indeed working and not day drinking away their inheritance (which would probably be easy to do in paradise)! Great job folks!

Went for my first snorkeling experience with Captain Brad and First Mate Maddie. They both made me feel as comfortable as possible as I faced my phobia of water. I truly enjoyed seeing the marine life and the amazing colors of the ocean. I can't believe I'm saying this, but i would do it again! Thank you for a wonderful first experience!

Great Captain and Crew. Took great care of my family. Equipment was well taken care of and easy to use. Boat ride was very enjoyable. The reefs we visited were full of fish, rays, turtles and even a large nurse shark. A great time was had by all. Would highly recommend!

For my birthday I traveled down from Boston to go snorkeling on the reefs in Marathon Key. I called and spoke with a younger man, first thing in the morning, to confirm a spot was available and to pay for the reservation, prior to journeying another three hours from Fort Lauderdale to join their 1PM snorkeling trip. He stated: “We have 18 spots open at 1 PM. Don’t worry about paying man. I’ll put your name down on the list and we will see you at 1 PM. You can pay when you get here. Your name is Reid, right?”

When I arrived at 12:30 PM the boat had already left. The manager, who was cashing people out because the guy I spoke to was on lunch, received zero communication from earlier in the morning. The snorkeling trip had already left, because everyone with a reservation arrived; and he did not put my name on a list or communicate to the manager that I was coming.

The manager did apologize and offer a voucher for the next day; however, seemed inconvenienced overall. I received the “I don’t know what else to ell you…” and “I wasn’t here…” Additionally, I traveled six hours round trip. Wasn’t about to come back the next day, which called for rain.

Two other men showed up that spoke with the younger man in the morning too. They were told to arrive at 1 PM. Three of us had made a lot of effort to get there and snorkel Marathon Key.
Not cool.

1) Make sure you reserve a spot online. Otherwise, the boat will leave without you.
2) Arrival time for trips is actually an hour prior to scheduled departure. So for 1PM trips, arrive at noon.
3) The guy I spoke with early that morning was definitely on Marijuana.
4) The manager and staff couldn’t care less about customers/people. Might I suggest trying somewhere else first.
