I had a really nice time on this relatively short rail trail. It's about 7 miles long from one end to the other and back. Mostly flat and pretty casual. There are a few spots where you have to cross streets. One particular spot is where you have to bike down Depot street and cross Montague City Road. There are some crossing signs to help with crossing. From there you bike up Solar Ave, turn onto Rod Shop Road and then the trail continues just off the end of Masonic Ave. Overall not bad. It's well maintained and there are parking spots on both ends. Definitely worth checking out.

The trail was nice. Canal quite high and fast flowing. Went over to a safe spot to touch river. A bit of trash in some areas, looks like teens party where old brickwork is exposed and open to the space underneath.

Would like to walk the trail in summer if back this way. Would see again.

This is a great trail that's very level. Only a few spots that is hiller which is only up to the street level. The people walking were super friendly and polite which made for a safe feeling while walking. Wish they had public restrooms and restaurants set up...would be super neat. We just loved this trail for a snow free winter walk.

I grew up in Westetn Mass and had never been here; very fun spot. Great paved rail trail along the canal and river. Great walk; walking east you pass a nice park and walk right along the river. Discovery Center has historical info I was curious about after the walk.

Check out the excellent information center for history of local industry and the Connecticut river watershed. The rail trail is a relaxed walk or ride along the canal with views of the old buildings/paper Mills.

Beautiful "river" walk. What a picturesque spot to walk, ride, or just relax. Experience the history of this rejuvenated canal zone.

Visited with my Son and daughter in law with their 4 year old daughter. Super nice place, free to get in, not crowded. Lot's of animal exhibits, very interactive, great place to take both kids and adults. Workers were super friendly, super clean. Next to it, is the Connecticut river which you can walk down a paved road and take some nice pics of the bridge and river scenery. The river was roaring, quite the site to say the least. We will be back once the leaves start turning. There is a diner across the street also.
