This spot is awesome. First, the folks helping us learn to use our e-bikes were incredibly helpful and informative. The bikes were super comfortable, easy to use, and made the ride to Hermits Rest incredibly easy. They gave a warning that this can be too far of a ride for some but with the e-bikes we made it there and back with stoping at view points in less than 3 hours. When we returned, we grabbed an iced coffee and iced mocha from the cafe which were incredible. One thing to note is the e-bikes can go extremely fast and there is a ton of wildlife so know how to comfortably use your breaks. We saw elk, mule deer, chipmunks, and big horned sheep that ran across the road in front of us that required quick stops! The most enjoyable experience of our Grand Canyon vacation; highly recommended!

We took the Hermit Road Cycling Tour
This tour was very easy to book and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You meet at the Grand Canyon Visitor Centre and "fitted" with a bike, that is then loaded into a truck and you are all driven to the start point: for our trip, to Hopi Point. We then cycled, with lots of stops for some astounding views, to Hermit's Rest, from where you are picked up and taken back to the Visitor Centre.

Our guide was Kevin, and he was excellent. He knew a lot about the plants and wildlife of the area and gave us a really good insight into the history, geology and scale of the Canyon. We really enjoyed his company. The bikes were really good and we would very much recommend this tour.

Sage was super nice getting us set up. The E bikes mate getting around very easy. I think this is the best way to get around the southern rim so that you don’t have to deal with bus stops and large crowds. Go where you want when you want. It’s great.

Avoid this place if you can. Don’t let the marketing photos fool you, the only food at this cafe is premade. We got a sandwich which was soggy and a salad which tasted old. A lot of the shelves were empty so our choices were limited. The line can get long and moves slowly with only 1 cashier. Most of the staff were nice with the exception of this dark haired girl making coffee drinks that had a really poor attitude. If you can, eat outside the park. Otherwise, only come here if it is your last resort.

We visited Bright Angel Bicycle Rental & Cafe at Mather Point for drinks and encountered a mixed experience. The prickly pear latte, prickly pear white mocha, and prickly pear lemonade were delicious, no complaints there. However, the service was disappointing. When we paid, we noticed discrepancies between the prices on the menu and what we were charged. The menu listed the latte at $5.25 but we were charged $6.00, the white mocha at $6.25 but charged $7.00, and the lemonade at $5 but charged $5.75. When questioned, the cashier attributed the difference to syrup costs, which wasn't indicated on the menu.

Additionally, when I asked for a lid to split one of the drinks for my kids, the barista initially moved the lids out of reach without explanation, then reluctantly handed one over with an attitude. The customer service lacked understanding and was unprofessional.

I took photos of their menu to highlight the pricing inconsistencies. Unfortunately, the barista followed me outside and made passive comments instead of addressing the issue constructively.

Overall, while the drinks were enjoyable, the discrepancies in pricing and poor customer service left a sour taste. Management should clarify their pricing and train staff on customer interaction for a better experience.

Self guided tour on e-bikes. Only way to see the canyon. No crowds, just ride around. Booked online and bikes were ready when we showed up. Service was great. People were very friendly and helped us get started.

I highly recommend this bike rental as an alternative way to see and experience the park. There are dedicated bike/pedestrian pathways but you will need to share the road at times. The path towards Bright Angel Lodge is mostly a gentle downgrade but remember that's uphill on the return. If you are in moderate to excellent shape continue your trip up to hermits rest, but that means some elevation changes. You can hop on one of the free shuttle buses at any point, they can accommodate 2-3 bikes in their rack. If you are unsure of your abilities or endurance rent an electric bike.

The cafe offers coffee and grab and go food. It's better than your standard grab and go food. They offer a diverse selection of sandwiches, including gluten friendly options.

We had an amazing tour with Kevin! The rest of our group didn’t show so it was just me my daughter and the tour guide. He stopped and told us all the cool things about the canyon and was very patient with my daughter. We highly recommended! We did the tour to Yaki point and back.
