Do not recommend you staying here. The place is beautiful during the day, but a lot of creepy stuff goes on at night, and the manager tries to make people stay in their rooms past 10 PM. He also refused me having my service animal, and made me leave the property because of it. The place is infested with roaches. During my stay, I never once received clean sheets and blankets, or toilet paper. There was numerous times where people tried breaking in my bathroom window. If you’re a woman or a single mother, do not stay here.. this place totally puts off “Bates Motel” vibes like no other.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this motel. Is it a branded hotel? No. If you want that, stick to the freeway. If you're expecting to eat your dinner directly off the carpet, .. I'd stay somewhere else. That said, this is a classic old-school, off-the-beaten-path motel.
I found I had a fabulous stay. It's difficult to find lodging that will take pets other-than-dogs - I have a rabbit and a cat. The manager was even nice enough to bring by a carrot for my rabbit!!
The grounds are very nice, with countless rose bushes of all colours; you can tell that there's care and love that's gone into the place. The tall eucalyptus trees lend accuracy to the name of the motel. Note that the restaurant next door is most definitely and absolutely closed, so plan accordingly for food.
Overall, this is a unique place, reminiscent I feel of lodging back before the sterility of corporate-branded hotels. Heck, I consider myself lucky when a motel has a window in the bathroom, lol.

I think it was just reopened recently. The room was nice, it was clean and it was very comfortable. We even had a stove. I can't wait to go back.

This is the worse place I've ever stayed. To start, we waited 10 minutes in the cold (with our baby) for someone to check us in. Office smelled like weed & bleach. The other guests were sketchy and kids were running around outside screaming by our window until 10pm. When we entered our room it was FILTHY. Cigarette ash on the carpet, and it obviously hadn't been vacuumed in a while. The pillows were so gross I had to ball up my sweater and use it instead. The sheets were thin and had holes in them. The mattress was old and lumpy. The bathroom floor was sticky, baseboards were yellow, toilet had not been cleaned. All surfaces were dirty. I ran the hot water in the shower for 5 minutes and it never got hot. Microwave and fridge were from the 1980's and crusted with old food. Without the heater on the room was freezing, with the heater on low the room was too hot. There was no remote for the TV. The side table drawers were not cleaned out. The lamp on my side of the bed was inoperable. Outside light shown through the multiple rips & tears in the curtains. I found dead gnats in a few places. And guess what, there was NO trash can in our room. I guess because the whole room was a trash can! I just threw our trash in a pile on the bathroom floor. Sorry next guests, I'm sure they won't clean it! NIGHTMARE HOTEL. I've stayed in hotels half this price that were cleaner than this. Do not waste your time or money.

Motel undergoing renovations with a quiet atmosphere in the evening. Being away from the city the night sky is completely visible at night, phone camera doesn't do justice. Stayed here multiple times on visits to Northern California, it's right in the middle of two smaller towns. As earlier mentioned, the motel is undergoing renovations and the landscaping has the property well maintained as well as rooms getting a touch of life. First stay had carpeted flooring and more of a 90s look while the latest stay boasted laminate flooring, tile work, and kitchenettes (optional). Obvious that there is work going into the property.

They just had their manager quit and witch craft was done on the motel. All guests suffered mental problems and were changing rooms. It was crazy. It was over guy running it being bisexual and they were all in the middle of a fight. My husband and I being ministers prayed and lit candles to cleanse the place from all of it and it seemed to be doing better when we left. However we cleaned our own room stayed for two weeks and thought we might get management position but it didn't happen. Definitely a strange experience but felt like we were unappreciated for what we endured and brought to the place.

We've stayed twice at the Blue Gum on our way down to the Bay Area from Oregon... Willows is the perfect stopover along the route that allows us to avoid driving in the dark and the Sonoma-Napa area traffic at peak time. ||The motel is on Hwy 99, so travelers are able to get off the crazy I-5 several miles north of Willows and de-escalate through lovely farmland and orchards to the motel's site. It was formerly owned by the Patel family, and Mrs. Patel was a lovely, welcoming host with good advice for vegetarian options in the area. They retired and sold, and the new owners, who are local, are remodeling all the rooms gradually and putting lots of energy into the landscaping. The pool has been repaired and is back in operation, seasonally. The beautiful palm trees and ornamentals (many many roses, citrus, and rhodedendron), with the rows of eucalyptus along the road, create a lovely, lush garden space. Motel rooms are average size and have been upgraded with new furniture, flooring and textiles. Dogs are allowed in the rooms not yet upgraded. Prices continue to be very reasonable, and there are good food options in Willows, just a short distance away. There's a Starbucks, and the Chinese restaurant is actually quite good - best vegetarian option in the immediate area.||||As it is, the Blue Gum Motel a good find, but the new manager, Eduardo, is just wonderful. He is hard working, energetic, enthusiastic, and seems to have boundless enthusiasm for the possibilities of the place and the grounds. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with him, and I came away thinking that the owners may be luckier than they realize to have found such a charming individual to oversee their investment. As we anticipate the birth of a first grandchild in Sonoma, we look forward to finishing our first day's drive at the Blue Gum on the many trips to come.

Stayed here in the spring time before it got hot. Daytime temp was in the 70s, nite in the 50s. (I say this because we didn't use the A/C.) The motel is about 4-5 miles north of Willows. It's about 3/4 of mile away from the highway and thus was not as noisy as the hotels/motels in Willows that are right next to the highway. Because we didn't use the A/C, can't tell you if the motel would be noisy from everyone using their A/Cs. Not a fancy place. Basic but clean. We were there for a race weekend, so were up and gone before breakfast (never saw it) and didn't use the pool. Drive time is about 15 min. from motel to Thunderhill Raceway. The room had a wall unit A/C, micro, frig, coffee pot, T.V. hair dryer - all the basics for a pleasant stay. We weren't in the room much. Staff was friendly. Our room was far away from the office and there was a problem with the wi-fi, it didn't work. The T.V. reception was fuzzy too. Because we didn't spent much time here, it worked for us. We would stay again.
