For the price point you really can't beat this liveaboard. Low-frills bunks, bit the staff are out of this world amazing and leave you feeling pampered. Gunnar was our cook, he did a phenomenal job with all our meals and helping out all other areas. Big kudos to Gunnar, all the crew and Captain Mark!

I must say the Blackbeard Liveaboard surpassed my expectations! If you don’t mind tight quarters and meeting new people this is the trip for you. The crew was amazing and very professional. I had an issue with my BC and Captain Chris got right on fixing it for me! Hoppy (Ian) our divemaster did a fantastic job with the dive briefs and making sure everyone was taken care of. The food was excellent, 3 meals a day with snacks you did not go hungry on this boat! It is like camping on water a bit but so much better because you meet a lot of great people. The dive sites were all fantastic. We did reefs, wrecks, the blue hole and night dives. The Austin Smith Wreck was my favorite. Sharks swimming around as you drop in and living on the wreck is a friendly Nassau Grouper who likes divers. They even took us to a beautiful tropical island to feed the iguanas. I’m impressed with the Blackbeard and it gets 5 Stars from me!!!!

We had a GREAT vacation with Captain Hoppy (Ian), Eng Morgan, DM Josh, Cook Trainee State Farm (Jake -hence the new nickname) and Cook Trainer and all around helping hand Link. They made our trip and 1st experience with liveaboards an excellent vacation and graduation trip for our son. They made sure we were safe during a tropical storm, made up for missed dives due to weather, and even got our son involved in the workings of the ship - setting sails and just making sure he was occupied since he was willing!

Outstanding live aboard dive trip. Crew was very professional, yet very personable. Living quarters are somewhat Spartan, but they tell you that ahead of time in their website. Food was great. Kahlula the cook is an absolute miracle worker in the galley. We did deep dives, wall dives, reef dives wreck dive, shark dives, night dives, drift dives and then there was the rinse cycle on the washing machine dive (you have to go there to find out what the washing machine is). We did a lot of diving, met a lot of new dive friends. I would definitely recommend it.

UPDATE: i have returned to Blackbeard's several more times since my original post. Always a great experience. Diving is great, crew members outstanding. OORRAAHH!

First dive trip I have ever taken and they set the bar high for the rest of my diving excursions. Crew was very nice to work with, and Captain Tom did an excellent job entertaining and picking beautiful dive sites along with fun onshore activities. Very fun experience; we dove walls, reefs, with sharks, a wreck, and did a drift dive though the washing machine! When we were above the water the crew and passengers aboard were all pleasant and fun to vacation with, day and night! I can't wait to come back and book my next live aboard with Blackbeard.

It's the best diving for your money, great people, great crew, great dives, great food!

If you're looking for a cushy liveaboard with your own private room and a big dining room, this may not be for you, it's a smaller boat with shared bunk rooms. That being said, I love it. I've done a big fancy liveabaord and 2 trips with Blackbeard's and they're my favourite way to dive, especally as a solo traveller. You meet great people, they feed you well, you'll have a dozen or more new friends by the week's end.

With 4 dives a day on most days and a HUGE variety of dive sites (Wall dives, reefs, wrecks, a shark feed, drift dives, the Nassau Blue Hole) you get a TON out of the 6 days on board. I've also done 2 PADI courses on board as the divemasters are always great!

The simplicity of booking the trip was a huge plus too! Through them, you can book the boat, grar rentals, and a shuttle to and from the airport, nothing else to worry about.
