Must stop & must see. The hike description at the trail head was pretty spot on timing wise. Allow for 4 hours. The hike is beautiful and somewhat challenging but so rewarding. Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks because you’re going to want to stay and enjoy the view.

The trail marker is not lying when it says you have to climb the equivalent of the height of the Golden Gate Bridge on the way out. Please don’t bring your dog or small children, it’s not going to be a good time for them. Not as dangerous as its reputation says it is as long as you’re a fully grown adult and know your limits.

A moderate hike down, more challenging on the way out but an incredible view with amazing Rick features and wind stressed trees. Not very little kid friendly and not good for dogs off leash. Parking is limited at the Compton trail head, maybe 20 vehicles.

Very fun hike! The hike down to the bluff is all down hill. After about 2.5 miles you will come to an opening that looks like an old camp site. There isn’t any signage, but you will take the trail on the right to get down to the bluff.

The views make the entire hike worth it, and the bluff is not dangerous whatsoever as long as you don’t do anything risky.

The entire hike took around 2 hours and 45 minutes including a picnic lunch at the bluff. The hike back to the car is fairly steep, ascending around 1100 feet over 3 miles. Although it is steep, we were able to hike out just as fast as we hiked in. I highly recommend this hike to anyone looking for a slightly challenging hike and amazing views!

Parked at centerpoint trailhead on Hwy 43. Had lunch on goat trail on the other side of the keyhole. Narrow trail on the bluff with a lot of hikers on the weekend. Round trip is around 3 hours. Tough hike coming back up the hill.

Not dangerous if you're not dumb. The reputation of this trail is far overblown, but that doesn't make it any less fun. Hiking down centerpoint to get here is way boring, but worth it. The bluff is fun, and has amazing views. If you show up early you may catch fog, which is extra pretty. Lots of excellent photos to take, and it's got plenty of shade. I'd do this hike any time of year, in almost any weather.

This was a great hike! Went at the beginning of July. Showed up early in the morning and took plenty of water/Gatorade. The majority of the trail is through wooded areas before opening up to the scenic shots you’re used to. I plan on doing this hike in the fall and the winter to see what the views look like during different leaf stages.

Take Google map directions to Centerpoint Trail (taking it to big bluff goat trail will not get you on the trail), hike about 2.5 miles through woods, then stay right at the fork.

Definitely don't recommend taking young kids (the way back is all uphill). Parking is $5 across the street if the lot is full.

It took us about 3 hours, including enjoying a picnic lunch and a few stops to enjoy the views.
