While there are two other crosses within a 300-mile radius that are taller, this cross has the best atmosphere. It seems like the tallest, or rather, the most imposing due to its isolated location on a hill with a scenic backdrop of the countryside. The design is aesthetic. The views are breathtaking. It truly feels like you’ve gone through a portal and you’re in another part of the world. The road to get here is helix-shaped around a arboraceous hill, so do not attempt if the roads are icy.

I visited here on 8 April 2024 for the Solar Eclipse. It is a couple hours drive from where I live, but well worth the drive. Once you drive up the long windy road and go through the gate you will see the cross. It is ah inspiring. You can see a long way around in all directions because of how high up the top of the mountain is. The store has lots of souvenirs to buy and there is a small cafeteria. Staff is very friendly and professional. So glad I visited this place. Well worth the drive.

We found this by seeing it from a far in Alto Pass, so we had to seek out… we couldn’t have picked a better day! JEEP gathering!! & Sunday was to be the blessing of the bikes!! The story of how it came to be is fun to read. Clean well maintained & great destination to add to any adventure!

20230906 WOW! This place is amazing. Not only the cross and the history, the scenic view is spectacular! There is a gift shop at the visitors center. Janis, the lady who works there is so nice. I had a great conversation with her while I shop. Don't forget to say a pray while you are here, and pray for America, and the people around the world. Jesus is always listening.

What a wonderful experience! My first time there, overwhelmed with such a huge turnout. Friends and I ride our motorcycles to this memorable event..."Blessing of the Bikes." Beautiful place to visit anytime of the year!!

While the drive is an adventure, nothing can prepare you for the views from the top of the mountain. The Cross carries a true message of peace & gathering. I was surprised to learned that my own Great-grandfather was one of the founding ministers that held some of the original Sunday services on the site of the Bald Knob Cross. It is worth the visit & the time to learn the history of this unique landmark.
