Excellent campground with beautiful sites. We are tent campers and stayed in the Bayside Campground, which was awesome! The park itself can be crowded during the day but by 4 o'clock the beach-goers seem to clear out and things quiet down just in time for the sunset. Wonderful snorkeling right off the beach with plenty of small creatures in shallow & clear water. The Bayside campground is tents only because of the clearance at the entrance and the sites are the perfect size for a tent and vehicle. Very strict 6'8" going under the bridge to enter which we barely cleared in our stock 2500. Be careful! Staff are lovely and keep the place ship shape. US 1 is very close by for easy access, but can also be noisy depending on traffic levels. We will be back at every opportunity!

Bahia Honda State Park RV Campground is a fantastic spot for nature lovers, especially those who enjoy stargazing! The park practices some light pollution control, making it an ideal place to experience the night sky in all its glory. During September, the Milky Way is visible, and it's truly a breathtaking sight. The peaceful atmosphere, paired with stunning views of both the ocean and the stars, creates an unforgettable experience. The RV sites are well-maintained, and the park's natural beauty makes it a must-visit destination for campers looking for a serene getaway. Highly recommended!

Stayed a few days here and wished I could stay forever. Park Ranger Matthew was so pleasant and informative. The park is peaceful and beautiful. It's a wonderful place to just walk around and take in nature.

I have been coming here since 2014. This summer I found park conditions, mainly bathrooms, very deplorable. There was no running water to wash my hands, the water was running through the wall when the toilet was flushed, dirt everywhere. I felt so sad, because this is the only state park my kids want to go to. It was disappointing. There's a fee to use the park... what about using some funds to improve the facility?

RATS! RATS! RATS! All over the Sandspur campground. While we enjoyed our stay last year, this year was shocking to see rats all over the place. We had rats coming while seating at the table eating during the daylight. One rat was trying to climb my neck while seating on a chair in the evening. At night we decided to capture the activity on site.

If you get a chance to book a reservation here, do it! The beaches are gorgeous. The campgrounds are great. Very clean showers and bathrooms. We stayed on the tent side and each campsite is separated from the others with natural vegetation, making it feel very private.
Be aware that the park does not allow generators and there are no electric connections at the tent sites, so you will need your battery powered fans and lights for creature comfort. We cooked on the grill each night. And there is electricity at the bath house, so we went up there to make our morning coffee.
Raccoons are prevalent so keep your food locked in your vehicle.
And if you are coming in a larger vehicle, the road to the tent camping has low clearance under the bridge. If your vehicle is taller than 6โ€™8โ€, you will not fit. We almost didnโ€™t make it. We had to take our roof rack off the van to get under the bridge. One of the State Park volunteers (Brian) was very helpful with check in.

Save yourself disappointment by calling rentals first thing in the morning, it was closed on 1st day bc of windโ€ฆ didnโ€™t notice any significant waves while the beach. Second day we were told no dogs allowed on kayaks (plastic, easily hosed off, so not sure why).

Still giving 5 stars despite less than cheerful nor accommodating concession staff, and dogs are allowed (campsites/roads for walks only- no dog run area, which would be an awesome amenity to keep them from going stir crazy in the camper while humans is it the beach).

Beautiful shallow water (still a bit cold in Feb), but amazing views in & out of water.

Happy with campsite & clean shower houses. Except for highway noise- not horrible, campground was quiet.

Chose the primitive tent camping a day in advance and was informed by everyone that I was lucky to get a spot. The spots book up fast and sometimes require as much as a year in advance.
First thoughts on entrance. Fantastic. The park rangers were more than helpful not just for explaining the layout of the key and where to go but several recommendations on what to do while there.
One thing not advertised was the starlight. If you camp or stay overnight be sure not to short change yourself and go to an unlit area of the key, away from the road to look at the stars. If you have never been away from the city you will be surprised at how much your world changes away from city lights. Enjoy the moment.
Dog friendly and incredible geocaching on the island. For anyone just starting out geocaching the key has nearly 500 favorite points on the five caches, all of which can be found quite easily by a beginner.
