I love this spot! High up the Agua Fria River, it's scenic, secluded, and far enough from the city to offer a break and relaxation! Road is kinda rough into the national park, dirt of course, but if you have driving skills even a small car can handle it. There's restrooms. And parking, that's it! Nice place to camp out, shoot off a few rounds, and reconnect with yourself, family and friends, and nature! Oh, and as you can see in pic, apparently it's a great place to fly an ultralight plane. Lol

One of my favorite easy hikes. I’ve been here many times over the years. Easily accessible from I17. There are pit restrooms on the way in. Once you get off the asphalt the last half mile or so is bumpy dirt road. I’ve taken a toddler on this trail a few times so very easy going meandering trail down to the creek bed. Usually a bit of wildlife in the area. I’ve seen lots of water and I’ve seen it dry. There are petroglyphs near the creek. Another trail leads up the cliffs to the left with nice views although I’ve never taken that way.

Such an amazing place .. such a terrible road. Most vehicles had no issues navigating the car swallowing pot holes but it was terrifying in my 32ft motorhome.
Once i got there I was thrilled and stayed for 6 days. Absolutely worth the terrifying road I suppose. I would encourage others with large rigs to walk it first or park at the top .. or come in at night so you don't meet anyone coming up the road. Only a few places for large rigs to sit level but if you can get there.. it is a place worth seeing.
Hiking up on black mesa you can find unpublished Adobe ruins .. pottery and broken pieces everywhere ( please do not disturb or take them ) .. hiking the mountains to the east you can see old mines .. hike up in the middle of the big turn in the river to Joe's hill for amazing views.
The river is amazing and the trail is easy.
A great place to spend days exploring.

Great, easy hike to a beautiful little creek/river and petroglyphs. We went on a Monday late afternoon and had the trail to ourselves. The hike was beautiful with views of mountains all around us. The petroglyphs were worth the stop alone and blew my mind. I will definitely be bringing my kids back to this spot.

The walk to the river had a lot of algae and smelled like cows. Once at the river it was beautiful. Plenty of shaded areas, the water was deep enough for the mids to swim in some spots. Great place to hang out for a few hours.

A very easy, open hike, a little over an hour to the water and back. Nothing really spectacular in terms of sights but good Arizona nature with a cool little creek. It was fun bounding from rock to rock over the water.

Absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite places to go to from phoenix. It’s super convenient, right off the highway, quick and easy trail, and a beautiful flowing waterway at the bottom of the trail. Great place to get the family out in nature, great for kids to go out and get dirty.
