This house combines unique architectural features with a history of national importance to be a worthy stop for anyone in the Plymouth area looking to learn more about early colonial life.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children and students, and $0 for Alden Kindred of America members, New England Museum Association (NEMA) members, active duty veterans and their families, Card to Culture holders, and Duxbury Free Library card holders. The entire tour took ninety minutes, as the portion in the visitor center was severely delayed; the tour likely takes forty-five minutes in most cases. The house was not accessible for those using a wheelchair or with limited mobility; lighting was fine on a sunny summer day but would have been dim on any other day. No virtual tour is available at this time.

Pretty cool learning about the Alden family, and their work in vesting equality and even in abolition in later generations. John didn’t come for religious reasons, but worked as the ship’s crew.
Priscilla came as a pilgrim and lost her whole family to sickness. She married John.
I even met some Alden descendants who were touring! I include a picture of the first Alden house sit in Plymouth (on burial hill), but this is their first Duxbury house and then final one (Priscilla died before John).
They had seemingly great relationships with local tribes, and later with freed slaves (Eobert Thomas, freed slave from Virginia even stayed with the Alden descents for a while and gave them a violin which he HAND MADE as a thank you gift!)
They have an origional 1620 Geneva Bible!!!!
Plenty of parking and handicapped parking. Most of the house is accessible and, with help getting me and my walker up the stairs, I even got to tour the upstairs!!! My walker fit just fine through the doorways.
Only $8 admission, and the tour guide was so knowledgeable!!!

As an Alden descendant, this was a must stop on my New England itinerary. The house has been kept up well. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Alden family history and was able to engage the kids in a meaningful and relevant way. We learned a lot about our family history (as well as general life in New England in the 17th century. Highly recommend to anyone interested in history.

Surprisingly, this tour kept the kids' attention, but my husband and I were even more interested in the story of the earliest pilgrims.

Amazing experience! Like many others, I’m an Alden descendant and it was so cool to finally see where we started. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and funny! Could not recommend this more, especially for the price! The gift shop is small but super cute; I purchased a John and Priscilla charm to wear for $12. Can’t wait to come back!

Traveling with a friend who’s an J&P Alden descendant. She suggested we stop by there after Nantucket and I’m glad we did. Nestled among mature trees, this 1627 house was built on the original land given to Mayflower Pilgrims. Still owned my the Alden family, the house was always in the hands of this family who lived there until 1920’s. The guide was knowledgeable and knew the genealogy of the Alden. Very glad we stopped by.

Amazing piece of history! This is John and Priscilla Alden's house circa 1680. Fantastic tour and an informed and friendly tour guide. Well worth the drive out there.
