My wife and I have stayed at three different basecamp properties over the past several years, and we could not recommend them more. The rooms are comfortable, have everything you need, and thoughtfully designed to complement the desert scenery. We will absolutely be back.

We had a two night stay in the Anejo unit while staying in Teringua. The purpose of our stay was to visit Big Bend NP. The location is good for this, being situated a short drive from the parks western entrance plus it is also located on the outskirts of Teringua which has a good selection of eateries.|The unit is modern and clean inside whilst retaining an authentic feeling that you’re in a desert. It looks south towards the mountains of Big Bend and there is little in the way of other properties within view. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the linen and towels of good quality. There is a bathroom connected to the bedroom plus an outside shower which was great to use in the heat of the day as it had such a cooling effect.|The nights are very dark which makes the night sky something special to look up to.|We loved our stay here although my wife was a little nervous about the blackness of the night.|If we ever return this will be our first choice for quality and location.

Stayed one night at Casa Patrón.
Things we loved were
the outdoor shower
Good amount of towels stored everywhere.
High class soap products rather than cheap ones.
Awesome window view.
Outdoor seating area and fire pit.
Things that were not good were
the cleaning crew most likely wipe the storage counter with Fabuloso and turn the glasses and cups upside down but that then soaked the cleaning scent into the cups. So a glass of wine or cup of tea tasted horrible like you were drinking cleaning supplies. So we just washed and cleaned everything again before we used them intensely.
Someone else’s socks and used ear plugs were left on the side of the bed so they most likely had to rush the cleaning job.
One of the showers had a lot of mold at the base wall which looked disgusting.
Outdoor shower door didn’t close properly at all and when we text them they sent a trick to close it but it didn’t work and they never bothered to come and fix it so the door basically was open for critters to crawl through. Glad we didn’t use that bedroom area we just closed the door.

Overall good experience with a few things that can be fixed with communication and wouldn’t stop us from returning.

Why bother even going into the park when you have an amazing view of it right out your window? This is a great place for kids, they loved exploring the rocky terrain around the house and the Terlingua Ghost Town across the street. We stayed in Casa Patron. Everything was clean and modern and a nice size for a family of 4-6 people.

There were 50 moths when we arrived to the room and every night there was another 50 even after we got rid of them each time. They disclose that there will be critters but I would think this was an infestation. We probably had another 50 through out the night and waking up with more in the mornings. When I requested for some kind of remedy to help with the situation, they replied saying that there was nothing they could do. I wish they provided at least new sheets for the smashed moths on the sheets. Considering it was my birthday, it really sucked spending my time getting rid of the moths instead of enjoying the place. I didn’t even complain about the cockroach that emerged out of the shower drain… I understand there are critters but this was way too much. I would not recommend due to the infestation and lack of service to help.

If you've ever been to Terlingua then you know that there's no town center, per se... cafes, businesses and lodgings are strewn all up and down highway 118 and 170. 170 is the highway that leads to "Ghost Town" Terlingua and Agave Terlingua is just off 170 by the turnoff to the ghost town... which isn't really much of a ghost since there are shops and eateries occupying all the old buildings.||We did a great deal of searching for a place to stay before settling on Agave Terlingua and after arriving at our casita, we were extremely glad that we chose this place to stay. Here's why.| |First of all, many of the places we saw look down on 170, including other properties owned by Basecamp Terlingua, the owners of this property. Or, they are very close to the highway and the noise. Or, the view from the properties is blocked by other buildings in front of them.| |But, Agave Terlingua is just off the main 170 road, and down a hill which blocks a lot of road noise. The casitas have a western view... lovely to watch the sunset, and there is virtually nothing in front of you... one telephone pole, and way in the distance, a farm building. It was very satisfying to sit and enjoy the views.| |We stayed in Casa Anejo, one of four casitas on the property. They are well separated from one another. Casa Anejo is a 2 person casita and it looks just like the pictures on their website. The bed was very comfortable. There is no TV, but the room had a microwave, a couple of dishes and spoons, a small fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. The air conditioner/heating system worked very well and was extremely quiet. The high speed internet worked very well.||The bathroom was spacious with a large rainfall shower area, and plenty of room at the sink and counter area. Two minor gripes: Not enough places to hang used towels, and the exhaust fan was very loud.| |Outside, there were two Adirondack chairs and a firepit, and two "end tables"... OK... two logs that served as places to put your drink. Firewood is extremely expensive in Terlingua if you can find it ($11 for 3 or 4 skinny chunks of wood) so do like we did and bring some wood and starter. Be prepared to not have a fire, though... it can become extremely windy.||Restaurants can be found just on the other side of the road in the ghost town 3 minutes away (I've also reviewed the restaurants we ate at), and down at the junction of 170 and 118.| |We thought the prices for lodging were rather steep here but considering that everything in Terlingua is expensive in the high season, this place was unbeatable, and if we return to Terlingua, we will definitely stay here again.

A great place to stay if you are visting Big Bend. The view was great and we really enjoyed sitting out each night by the fire. They did a really good job in the design and construction of these Casitas. The outdoor shower was wonderful and these have to be the best accomandations in Terlingua from what I saw.||||The location is very convientant to the parks as we drove over for the two days we stayed. This was one of the most relaxing places I have stayed over the years and was very quite during our stay.||||They do not supply firewood and it was expensive to purchase at the local store as was everything else, so bring pently if you have room. Be sure to have access to email as they send all information and door codes via email. Also ask for extra towels upfront as they only provide two.||||We will be back....

This was our first trip to Terlingua and it was A TRIP...literally and figuratively! The town is unlike anything that I've ever seen. The geography was stark, wild, beautiful and rugged. It reminded me of what it would be like on Mars. We stayed at Casa Reposado for 2 nights to see the stars and visit Big Bend. Reposado means "restful" in Spanish and it was ABSOLUTELY restful. The casita was in the middle of the desert with only a few other structures within a 1/4 mile. This was the ultimate in social distancing! The place was comfortable with an amazing king size bed, small fridge, wifi and microwave. The AC was awesome, even in the middle of August. This was the easiest "roughing it" in my life. But the most amazing part was the view of sunrise, sunset and THE STARS. If you've never seen the Milky Way, you MUST put this place on your bucket list. The location is close to Big Bend and the locals are very friendly. This is absolutely not for everyone, but if you are an adventurer and like to walk off the beaten path, you really should come here.
