Tour: Oct 22-Nov 1, 2024. I have just returned from an absolutely wonderful tour with African Connections. I learned so much - Dr Hakeem and her team ensure that all clients capture the true essence of Ghana, its natural beauty, its welcoming people and what it offers every guest. From start to finish - every detail was covered - visa preparation/timeline to submit application, vaccine requirements, what to pack, currency exchanges, culture, what to expect, hotel accommodations, etc. Speaking with guests from other travel companies along the way - I’ve realized that not all tours are created equal namely, important places within proximity of certain venues were not included. I feel especially fortunate to have selected African Connections. Ghana is so much more than just a shopping expedition. We visited different regions during our 12 day visit. You will have made an excellent choice with African Connections for your visit to Ghana and other select African countries they cover. Dr Hakeem is locally/internationally well connected, has taught African Studies and lives intermittently in Ghana for close to 30 years. She is passionate about her work, professional, responsive and customizes tours to suit small / large groups. I highly recommend making an introductory call to learn more.

This was my first trip to Ghana, and I didn't know what to expect. This trip exceeded all of my expectations and more. Every little detail was thoughtfully planned, and all of our needs were met—whether it was excursions, shopping, restaurants, or nightlife. Whatever we requested, our tour guides, Sam and Nicholas, went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of, Medaase Dr. Aisha was incredibly knowledgeable about Ghana's rich history, which made our experience even more enriching. My family and I had a wonderful time on our tour to Ghana. It felt really nice to arrive & not have to worry a thing since everything was already planned out for us. We got to learn background and history of the places that we were taken to before we got there which I truly appreciated. Truly an incredible experience. The professionalism and care that our family experienced during our tour was top notch. The diverse exposure to the beautiful country of Ghana, from the metropolitan areas of Accra to the quieter fishing towns of Elmina and Cape Coast, afforded our group a unique opportunity to see the diversity of the region. Dr. Hakeem is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Ghana and has a keen ability to tie it all into our history as Africans in the diaspora. Her mini lectures brought out emotions and a deeper understanding of how we truly have an “African Connection” because as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said “…Africa was born in me”. African Connections made our family trip of 17 wonderful. We were well informed of activities, customs, history and just daily life here in Accra. Our days were filled with activities. Everything was well planned out: pick up from airport and even drop off. They walked with us inside until we were completely checked in. Accra is a beautiful place and we were all “Welcomed Home”. Of the continent, AFRICA, I was called first to Ghana! African Connections is truly an experience that connects you with your past. The experience is eye-opening, though you maybe in the vacation mindset, you receive the whole experience and once you are spiritually connected with your ancestors, you start feeling like you are truly home and you must return.

The food was authentic, the music enriching and the entertainment exhilarating.

The Ghana tour we took with African Connections was so much more than we expected and more. We were provided the opportunity to visit all of the must see places in Ghana. Additionally, historical overviews were shared with us by Dr. Ayesha Hakeem before we visited each site, making the tour so valuable to each of us. The very well curated sites were complimented by the diverse selection of restaurants and shopping stops. We were provided primo service by the staff before and especially during the trip. To say that this trip was transformational really does not do it justice. The chance to see first hand the places we have only read about, and especially that chance to talk with and learn from our Ghanaian brothers and sistersthroughout the tour, and most of all to be "welcomed home" was powerful.
