This is my absolute favorite rest area, which is a weird thing to have a favorite of but this one is worthy of having a favorite welcome center! I live about 45 mins south so I don't usually need to stop but I always do. It is so peaceful and welcoming! They have beautiful landscaping and a shady porch with rockers and a little fountain. And once you get inside the bathrooms are always clean and the staff is so friendly! I always make sure to sign in with the staff (it helps them with funding I believe; just number in party, home zip code and reason for trip). Seriously I almost want to drive up just to hang out in this little interstate-side oasis.

A redneck weather rope is instantly worthy of 5 stars. The bathroom was not great, but it didn't matter. Nobody rates rest stops, but a redneck weather rope deserves to be shared with the world.

20240325 There is a Sweet Home Alabama sign at the entrance of this rest stop. Great photo op! To the left of the visitors center where the restrooms are, there is a memorial for our military service members. The exterior of the building reminds me of an old cabin in the woods. The restrooms are outdated.

Large, fully stocked and clean restrooms. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Large area to walk your pets, away from the flow of traffic; both human and automotive. I was impressed with the memorabilia, from across the state, located inside the Welcome Center and the Deer outside with a plaque which describes the trash collected throughout Alabama and the man hours it requires to remove it.

This is one of the Best welcome centers I've seen and I travel a lot. The outdoor atmosphere is inviting with great flowers, plants, landscaping, gnome garden and a giant model of a deer! Upon closer inspection, we noticed the deer was filled with recycled water bottles. So cool when used in conjunction with a map of the water tributaries and educational info on waterways stewardship.
