This group was amazing to work with start to finish! I cannot say enough about what a great experience it was. Before we ever got there, communication was excellent. They made special accommodations and were so willing to help our autistic son throughout his first kayak experience. Tyler was the BEST tour guide. Kind, patient, genuine and helpful. The scenery is spectacular, the water is cold and beautiful, and Tyler even captured photos of our family in the midst of all the beauty and sent them to us for free later in the evening.

If you are considering this kayaking trip, DO IT. And book with River Dogz.

We took this tour on Monday Nov. 25th and launched with Michelle around 11am. It was mostly cloudy and in the high 50's. We thought it might be too cold but it was actually perfect. Don't miss this experience just because you think it might be too cold. It's not. MICHELLE IS AMAZING! As we drove to Willow Beach after our pickup, she explained how the day would progress and also gave us some great info and history around the Colorado River and Hoover Dam. Once we got to the launch site, Michelle was great to explain how to best use the kayak paddle to steer and move forward to help us stay safe and more importantly, DRY!

We LOVED Michelle! She was so much fun as we paddled up and down the river! Our first stop she provided tons of snacks like fresh fruit, granola bars, chips and water. We then walked up to see a historic house that played a part in the building of Hoover Dam. So cool!

As we moved up the river to the Emerald Cave, we saw a bald eagle on the "cable car" that was used by the resource officer back in the 20's. Michelle was so patient with some of our group that struggled with paddling and navigating the kayak! We got to Emerald Cave and she "parked" us all inside for a great picture! She took pictures all along the route all the way there and back - both individual and group photos. Not only that, but she shared all her pics right after the trip was over. There's no doubt that she added to the enjoyment of the entire trip with her knowledge, personality, and expertise.

For someone considering this tour, DO IT! I'm glad we decided to do this during the winter months - don't let that stop you! Here's some helpful tips:
1) It's best to have a waterproof case for your phone - they sell them at the shop at Willow Beach for $20.
2) If you take a backpack, make sure it's waterproof as you will still get water inside the kayak from paddling.
3) It's best to wear aqua shoes or socks. You will be in the water and these work great! I would not recommend flip flops.
4.) Michelle was kind enough to let us leave our socks and shoes in the van along with anything else that we did not want to possibly get wet.
5) It's a little bit of a workout so expect to use your arms quite a bit.
6) It's a good idea to bring a couple of small towels to use after the tour is over to dry your feet and calves.

Lastly, this was such a cool experience. Pictures do not do this justice at all. We saw both the female and male bald eagle. We're still hoping that Michelle and the team use our suggestion to name the male eagle "Bogey" (he currently has no name and is called "No Name". LOL!) The female bald eagle is named Pina Colada. We also saw many blue heron and quite a few Bighorn sheep. Lots of ducks on the water too! Don't feed the ducks bread!!!!!!

Thanks to River Dogz and especially Michelle for making this one of our most fond memories!!!

Fantastic Kayaking Experience with River Dawgz!

I went kayaking with River Dawgz in July at Emerald Cove, Willow Beach, AZ, and it was an incredible experience! The guides were super knowledgeable and friendly, making sure everyone felt comfortable and safe on the water. They shared interesting facts about the area, which made the trip even more enjoyable.

The scenery was breathtaking—Emerald Cove’s crystal-clear green waters are something you have to see in person. The kayaks were in great condition, and the whole trip was well-organized from start to finish.

If you’re looking for a fun, adventurous way to explore Willow Beach and Emerald Cove, I highly recommend River Dawgz. I’ll definitely be back!

We all got a River Dog in us ?

We booked this day on a travel website and they ended up booking us with River Dogz and I could not be happier with the result. Our tour guide Jake was easy to work with, very informative and very patient with us. The amazing thing is that it was his first solo group but you could not tell with his professionalism. We started the day on Willow beach and kayaked 2 miles down to Emerald Cove. On the way we stopped by a beach and learned more about the canyon and the previous plans to build the Hoover Dam there. We were able to swim as well as hike up to get a better view of the canyon. Snacks were provided and so were drinks. From there the trip to the cove was filled with interesting sights. From bald eagles to turtles to getting a closer look at the catwalk and cable car old survey teams would use to check the waters back when they were still deciding where to build the Hoover Dam. We booked the half day but if we could do it again we would do the full day because this was one of the best vacation activities we have done in a while. Not only was our tour guide awesome but we were lucky enough to have a nice and easy group as well. Everything about this trip was perfect and I could not thank this company enough! Highly recommend for a day trip outside of Vegas or if you are visiting the area.
