We booked the tour online for 3:30 but ended up we could arrive earlier. Therefore we were able to change the schedule within the two hours frame.

They have a small playground for kids to learn the gemstones while waiting for the tour.

The tour begins with a cruise to see the lake and mountain view. Inside the cave is amazing and hard to describe just in words. Our 9 and 13 years old boys both love this tour.

Very cool spot! The tours are well organized and efficient. Rachel was our boat captain and Nicole was our cave guide. You arrive and check in, go to the boat dock for a quick ride over the lake to the other side. Then you take a short bus ride up the mountain to the cavern. Once you are there you go on a 45 minute cavern tour. After your down, bus ride down and boat ride back. We had a great time and would highly recommend this tour.

Stopped here on a road trip to Shasta. Admission was about $40 each for two adults. The tour begins with a boat ride across the lake to a steep cliffside landing area, followed by a bus ride up a twisty road to the cavern entrance. I enjoyed the tour. There’s a lot of stair stepping inside the cavern itself, but the indoor climate is cool and refreshing. The scenery is well lit and the guide explains everything really well. The cathedral room caverns are really breathtaking. The difficulty level is easy to moderate. Our tour group included a senior with mobility issues and she was able to complete the tour.

Went with my aunt and uncle in their mid to late 70s and my 18 yr old niece. We almost had the tour to ourselves at 2p in June but a nice family of five joined us with two mins to spare before boat left! We all had a good pace and really glad it wasn’t a huge tour group (would have waited if group size was too big). Short boat trip/nice views, bus ride also had a nice view and cavern had a lot of cool history. Got to see a couple of bats too. Yes, there are stairs but I think very doable as long as your knees can take it!

Lovely scenic boat ride and bus ride to the cave entrance. Good informative tour guide. Highlight of the tour was the close proximity to the lime stone formations. Some short distance of steep stairs. Felt secured and spacious in the “rooms”. Good natural lighting and temperature inside.

Shasta lake is man-made lake and reservoir. It’s also the 9th tallest dam in the US. The tour takes about 2 hours. The cavern is actually privately leased. You will take a ferry to the cavern, followed by a bus ride. Transport is about 1 hour round trip. The staff are funny and really nice. You can Only bring water inside the cavern. The staff does bring a cooler and you can buy water for $3 a bottle. Once you arrive at the entrance of the cavern they also have a bending machine and restrooms. Make sure you go before you start the tour. They say you will take about 600 stairs… when it gets steep, you will have the chance to leave the tour. We got there a little before opening, so we were able to get our tickets on the spot… however, it is recommended you buy your tickets ahead of time.

I recently visited Lake Shasta Caverns and had an absolutely amazing experience. The tour started with a scenic boat ride across the beautiful lake, which was a great way to start the adventure. Once we arrived at the caverns, we hopped on a comfortable bus that took us up to the entrance.

The tour of the caverns was fascinating, with our knowledgeable guide providing us with interesting information about the formations and history of the caves. The highlight for me was definitely the steps leading down into the depths of the caverns. It was a bit of a workout, but the views and the experience were well worth it.

Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Lake Shasta Caverns. The boat ride, bus ride, and steps all added to the excitement and enjoyment of the tour. It was a truly unforgettable experience that I will cherish for years to come. Five stars all around!

For pet owners, u can take a small pet as long as they stay in a small carry bags. Big dogs wont be allowed as well as bagpacks. I bought a little lake Shasta shoulder bag and put my cat in it with a harness and it was just perfect.
