Scenic view of the bay, one of the best seashore views you can see. This place has its own history and is now well maintained. It’s pretty hard to find parking for this spot, the light house is a short 10 min trail down with 300+ steps. This peak fogs up most of the time especially on winters so plan along with weather forecast. Idyllic views and good place to capture some memorable pictures as you won’t see anything like it anywhere else

So, here's the thing, this lighthouse is really neat, a lightkeeper was passing along historical info which was cool, and when you get there, the location is beautiful (although we unfortunately had fog)... but the one thing that took some of the excitement out of it was that the signage never told us how far away it was (and we weren't using navigation-my bad-) so what I thought would be a 10 min detour from our path wound up being like an hour. Once you get there, it's a 1/2 mile hike up from the parking area to the viewing area, and if you want to go to the actual lighthouse it's another 313 steep steps downhill. If you know this in advance you should be fine. I did not so I was a little grumble. But again, I really enjoyed the lighthouse and what I could see of the views. It's probably stunning on a clear day! So just plan accordingly and you should have a good time!

This place always feel special .. third time here and each time I have been there - it feels like a new place altogether. I know for sure it’s due to the weather since San Francisco weather changes through the day. Gloomy and foggy this time but beautiful as always. Looking forward to be back on a sunny day. The lookout was closed this time around. Highly recommend to keep a light jacket with you coz it gets windy pretty quick.

The drive out to Point Reyes was absolutely beautiful. We seen a huge, majestic bull elk. It was super windy and frigid out, although it was August. There were bathrooms available.

Such a beautiful costal preserve!
From the area near the light house you can see whales! And some gorgeous birds!
If you’ve weekend and are looking for a fun place to checkout go to Point Reyes!
Keep a jacket on you(even if the weather says sunny), stop by the tunnel of cypress trees, go down to the lighthouse and watch for whales! Oh, and the light house closes by 4 pm!

This review is for Chimney Rock Trail which was a ~1.8 miles round trip that took ~40 minutes to complete.

Chimney Rock Trail was located ~5 minutes away from Point Reyes Lighthouse. The drive into Point Reyes was somewhat long so I highly recommend doing both the lighthouse and the trail.

The trail was mostly a narrow dirt path with minimal elevation changes. Great views on all sides of the Pacific Ocean! This whole area is known to get foggy so plan ahead if possible.
