Today, after I ran the Deadwood marathon we went there to get breakfast to go. I was very sore and didn’t feel comfortable dinning in. A waitress there that looks like she’s in her late 60s or 70s was very rude to my wife. She told her, “We can’t serve you!” and was very rude to her with every interaction. Another worker checked on the kitchen and they said it will take 30 minutes. Then the rude lady said, “Are you going to be here because I can’t be trying to find you.” She gave attitude to my wife and was all smiles with everyone else. My wife is Hispanic, it makes me wonder if that lady is a racist. People kept going in to the restaurant and none of them got told that they couldn’t be served. Avoid this place!

Poor quality breakfast. In past it used to be good. Now nothing fresh, brown celery at Bloody Mary bar (ok if you are willing to cut off the ends!) and dry crunchy tortilla on the breakfast burrito. Not a good sign when waitress tells you to self-serv your coffee from commercial-sized coffee dispenser on a shelf and grab water from plastic water jug on same shelf. Hopefully quality will improve but I won’t go back to find out!!

Good food, small restaurant offering tasty, pleasing breakfast fare. Price reasonable, good seating, flavors good, home cooked atmosphere relaxing. Not particularly hurried at the service end. Remember you're there to relax and kick back, not to beat the clock.

Thank you Wooden Nickel for ignoring us when we tried to eat breakfast there this morning! We found Uncle Louie's Diner in Sturgis. Uncle Louie's is GREAT! Delicious food and the service is amazing. Worth the short drive to Sturgis for sure.

Linda doesn’t belong anywhere near customers. She told me a disabled veteran with a service dog that she needed to see a certification for my dog which is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The absolute most your allowed to do in that case is ask what service the animal performs for you in relation to the disability . Thanks to her, the Wooden Nickel’s future is in jeopardy. Lawyer up owners. I’m sorry I have to do what I have to do for every disabled veteran injured in the line of duty.
