The Alaskan Tour Guides 10 day Grand Explorer tour included all the areas I wanted to see while in Alaska for a short stay and more. Our guide and driver Dylan was courteous, humorous and very organized. The small group size (12) was a plus. We went to an Iditarod training center, rafted among icebergs, had an usually active day on a whale watching cruise in Resurrection Bay and took the flight of a lifetime around Denali on a crystal clear day. We got to ride on the Alaska RR and feel the pull of a dog musher team. The hotels were well located and excellent. Most times at restaurants for the included meals, we were able to choose whatever entree we wished. I highly recommend ATG.

This was a great tour of Alaska. Sarah, our tour guide provided lots of information about the areas we toured, and was great at spotting wildlife. She went above and beyond in her role as guide, even picking up a birthday cake for us to celebrate a family members birthday. I would highly recommend her!

Our 10 day ATG tour was one of our the best trips ever. ATG provided all the services and accommodations required, plus many meals. We found the small (13 person) van size a perfect way to experience Alaska for the first time. Our tour guide/driver Cheryl, was excellent in every way. Her personal knowledge seamlessly added to the entire experience and her restaurant recommendations were spot on. She made sure that our daily schedule was always updated and easily distributed. Our fellow travelers were a delight to interact with, and the fact that photos were willingly shared amongst the entire van meant that we all returned home with the best possible records of our adventures.
The tour by itself was very well planned, as were the optional activities. Awesome doesn't begin to describe the plane ride beside the mountain tops. The raft float in a glacial river was full of unforgettable scenery as was the sky view train ride. Ditto the ATV ride, dog sled kennel visit, and whale sighting boat ride. Alaskan Tour Guides has our highest rating as well as our thanks for a fantastic experience.

I would highly recommend this tour company. Dylan was our guide and driver. He possessed great knowledge and expertise on Alaska culture, geography and history. He was very professional and courteous, willing to go above and beyond to ensure that we were safe, comfortable and well fed. He added some stops along the way that were not part of the original itinerary to fill in some gaps. We were with a fun group of people which made our trip a very memorable.

We had a wonderful experience with ATG this past June. Our guide Cheryl was knowledgeable and very accommodating. Loved the small 13 passenger van experience a nice way to travel around and take in the sights. We saw so and experienced so much its hard to pick out a favorite but would definitely recommend ATG for first time Alaskan tour.

In August 2025 we participated in a 12-day, inland, small group tour provided by Alaskan tour guides. We wanted to get up close and personal with the many experiences Alaska has to offer rather than ride by and wave from a cruise ship with stops only at tourist towns. We made the right choice! Dylan was our tour manager and bent over backwards to make sure everyone had a good time and their needs were met. He has a vast amount of knowledge about the areas we visited. There were only 10 tourists on our tour and now we consider all of them to be new friends. We got to see sites from Denali to Homer and the incredible scenery in between. ATG arranged an additional cost flight around and through the jagged mountain peaks of Denali National Park which was worth every penny. A partial list of Adventures included a Glacier cruise, Glacier to River rafting, visit to a sled dog kennel with a ride, excellent restaurants, visiting the fishing Village of Homer and enjoyed gold star service on the Alaskan railway. A small group, Inland tour is the way to go, and Alaskan tour guides is the company to do it with.

We took the ten-day Grand Explorer tour with our excellent tour guide Courtney she was very knowledgeable, good and exceptional; I give her a 5star rating. We started out in Anchorage went to Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Spencer Glacier Iceberg Float, Glacier Discovery Train, Seward for Halibut Fishing, which was excellent, to Kenai Fjords National Park, Exit, Glacier Hike to Dream a Dream Sled Dog Kennel which was Fun we met Vern Halter A longtime Iditarod musher, he did 18 Iditarod finishes ( 9 were in the top 10 finishes),then to Independence Mine, to Hacher Pass, to Denali National Park and finish with a train Ride the Denali Star, the Alaska railroad flagship train. I would recommend this tour.
PS I hope you get Courtney as your guide if you go.

We have traveled throughout North America and around the world, and know our "Ultimate Alaskan Adventure" with Alaskan Tour Guides was among the best trips we’ve taken. We had visited numerous Alaskan ports on a cruise 20+ years ago and fished with tour guides in a fishing lodge in Klawock on a separate trip. They were awesome trips, but we always said we wanted to spend more time touring beautiful Alaska on land. Alaskan Tour Guides provided a once-in-a-lifetime expertly guided experience that delivered extraordinary memories. From the time we booked the trip a year in advance to the day we finished the tour last summer, Alaskan Tour Guides guided us through the process, providing regular and thorough explanation of everything we needed to know in planning for the trip, what to expect during the trip, the detailed itinerary for each day, and personalized attention throughout the tour. Our guide Cheryl Shaffer went over and above in every way during the trip. While our itinerary was highly detailed, Cheryl took advantage of every opportunity to highlight the smallest things that most would have missed if not for her command of the Alaskan geography, in-depth knowledge of local history, great restaurants, places to shop when we needed the smallest things, and making everyone feel very comfortable and going out of her way whenever possible, which was virtually every day. A wonderful example of how she cared for her clients, we toured Denali in a bus early in the tour and the battery charger for my new Canon SLR dropped out of my backpack in the bus. We sat in the front seats next to the door and I could’ve sworn it dropped out of the bus when people were loading and unloading. I discovered it was missing when we went back to the hotel and I went to charge my camera battery. I immediately contacted Cheryl to see if by chance someone had turned it in to the bus driver. Cheryl quickly inquired but was told the bus was used by several tours and no one had turned it in. I was resigned that it was lost but it was the only way I could charge the wonderful new camera I had purchased just before the trip. The next morning before we began our next event, Cheryl said she wanted to go back to the bus station to check one last time. At the same time I’d checked some local stores at our next stop to see if they had a charger to purchase; they fortunately did. We stopped at the bus station and Cheryl went in; when she came out she had a look on her face of disappointment while reaching out and dropping the charger in my hand. Yes, some good soul found it and turned it in. I was both shocked and extremely appreciative for Cheryl’s persistence and care enough to go that extra step. It was a perfect example of what Cheryl did for everyone throughout the tour. We took thousands of pictures, saw amazing scenery and wildlife, and overall had that once-in-a-lifetime experience. We highly recommend Alaskan Tour Guides if you want an amazing experience touring Alaska, and if you’re lucky enough Cheryl will be your guide.
