Highly recommend this fun adventure, the guide is amazing and had my daughter laughing. We were suppose to go on a Saturday but got stuck late at wegners mining for crystals, didn’t have service to contact him right away before our appointment but as soon as I caught service I reached out to him and he was very understanding and had no issue with rescheduling us again the next day. We also had our two dogs with us and they even had an outside kennel for us to put them in. We appreciated that a lot. The horses were amazing and gentle. I rode the appy I forgot his name but he was beautiful. The ride was beautiful and learned a lot from our guide about the area along with different types of edible mushrooms that grows out in the area, like lions mane and morels. The view of the woods, creeks and open water at the top was stunning and so peaceful. Highly recommend this spot as a family journey to experience and share together.

I had a 13 yr that was scared of horses. Last year we tried an arena ride with her. She stayed on the horse maybe a minute. The staff at Mountain Harbor assured me that they were great with reluctant riders. They did not disappoint! She was very reluctant to get on. The staff was very good with her. She mounted and road the trail, smiling the whole way! I would definitely recommend ?

The man that runs it, John, is such a sweet man. I made reservations 1 before. The current price is $45pp. Don't hold me to this, Call ahead as prices for everything are always subject to change. No one in my group had experience in riding horses and that was not a problem. We were 2 adults and 3 teens. We all loved the ride. The trail was beautiful. As other people have mentioned in their negative reviews, there is a weight limit of 250lbs. There's no "fat shaming" intentions, we must understand that horses can only carry what is safe for them. The owner of this stable has a vested interest in keeping his horses safe as well as the rider. I read somewhere that horses can try to buck an overweight rider, bite at the rider's legs, or become stressed out due to it being uncomfortable. I personally appreciate the weight limit because I wouldn't want not even 1 horse showing stress in my riding group freaking eveyone out, both horses and riders. I felt very comfortable taking my kids on this ride. Highly recommend it.

Highly recommend this place! We had 3 kids in our party - 7, 9 and 12. He matched the kids perfectly to the horses that best matched their personalities at first sight. Youngest was on Shorty who was the biggest horse, but has such a calm demeanor and can sense when the little ones are nervous to slow down and when they relax speeds up. The trail was great with ups and downs through the trees in the mountains and the view of lake Oauchita was beautiful. We saw some deer along the way and the owner/guide was great and very knowledgeable of the local area. It was a 30 min drive from where we were staying but definitely worth it and we would do it all over again!

It was such an awesome experience. I had never ridden a horse before, and John made it super easy and comfortable. The horses had great personalities, which made it that much more fun. John is a very knowledgeable local with a lot of experience. You can feel at ease knowing he will help you if necessary. The route is beautiful and goes near the local lake. We got to see plenty of wildlife, too, which was a plus!

Highly recommend this place. Owners are very knowledgeable, experienced and friendly. Horses are very well trained and kept. Beautiful scenery. Even my 6 years old son, who was scared to be seated on a horse, after just a couple minutes of ride was like a hero, all exited about the ride.

Fantastic ride with John through the forest overlooking the lake. Neither one of us had rode in ages, but he made us feel right at home. A definite must if you are in the area.

My wife and I booked a Saturday ride. We just so happened to be the only ones so it was like getting a private tour of the area. We saw deer, a raccoon and probably a few other critters. The weather was wonderful and John is an engaging host who will keep the conversation interesting all along the ride. He is very attentive to his surroundings and to the horses. He knows what is going on at all times and watches out for his riders and their horse. We had an awesome time and would do it again.
