Site open for public access but gate across road prevents driving up to it. Approx 2 mile hike, up hill to structure. Nice views the east, south and west. North view is blocked by trees. Solid representation of early forestry service construction. Tower is sturdy enough to walk on but some spots are soft. Be mindful of your footing and pack out all your trash. Excellent for star gazing if adequately prepared.

Short hike to the top.
Old historic watch tower, open for the public to use.
There is a gate where the trail, which used to be a dirt road, starts. You can go on the trail even if that gate is closed since it is public now.
Long way to get to the Trailhead from the highway. About 30min of dirt road.
Trail is mostly shaded, which is nice. Beautiful view at the top.

Beautiful views and nice little piece of history.
If the gate is unlocked it's a nice little drive up. (Gate was closed on Sunday afternoon but open on Monday morning)

Wonderful 2 mile uphill walk along a dirt road. Beautiful scenery on the way up in early spring and once at the top you are rewarded with a breathtaking view.

Wonderful place to be when the sunsets and the stars come out. You can look South to the lowlands heading towards the Red River, just can't see to the Red River.

Firepower is old and the lumber part is questionable as to its safety. Be very careful where you step.

I have added a photo taken 12 miles South of Tall Peak looking North to the tallest mountains. Tall Peak is the one on the left, which is about the same height as the one next to it.

Wonderful spot to get away from it all, but still has decent cell service for peace of mind. Excellent stargazing spot. Please be gentle with this piece of Arkansas history and leave no trace. Accessible on foot only.

Absolutely gorgeous low profile hike. Only taking a star off since you can’t see the north side. The people that give it 1 star can’t read or don’t bother to look up trails. The gate is always closed…so be prepare to hike it…you know…the thing you do on HIKING TRAILS lmfao
