Tavern on the Rail Event Venue and Restaurant - Mineral, Virginia

Visited for the first time this weekend. We have passed it several times and kept putting off giving it a try. We wish we have tried it sooner. When we first walked it, we were surprised by the amazing dining room. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We decided to try the patio and it did not disappoint. I had the prime rib and it was one of the best I have experienced in the area. My other half had the crab cakes and they were delicious. Desserts were out of this world (cheesecake and key lime pie). The service was friendly and we absolutely loved the outdoor space. We are looking forward to returning soon.

Amazing doesn't begin to describe this food, we have been on the road for 9 weeks and across 5 States and this truly has been an eye opening experience of wonder!!!
The FOOD is mouthfuls of bliss!!! Best salmon homemade Cole slaw fried Oysters and so on and on and on. I can not wait to come back and try everything on the menu!!!

For many years I had heard that tavern on the rail was a great place to eat and somewhat hard to get into. There were eight of us and we sat on the patio where there were plenty of tables. I think our waitress was new to the position and somewhat slow and confused. The food was good but not outstanding. The overall experience was fine but I am not in a rush to go back.

Melody is AMAZING! She recently catered my outdoor wedding reception of approximately 40 guests. Melody was SO easy to work with; I felt like I had known her my whole life ! She listened to my thoughts and ideas, while offering suggestions of her own. The reception venue was beautifully decorated with touches of romantic vintage decor (candelabras, greenery, silver platters, antique buffet table, etc); which she brought from Tavern On the Rail venue to my venue.

Most of all, the main entrees which included a buffet of chicken parmesan and crab/ flounder casserole was absolutely delicious! Our guests raved about the food, the service and the intimate ambiance of this occasion....!!

A lovely evening. Food was delicious. Don’t expect super thick steaks as these are hand cut here cooked perfectly and delicious. Sides and beverages as well as service were wonderful. Atmosphere gives you a sense of Virginia history with some original 1837 floors and other items in place. Registered on the History registry and still felt clean and appealing. Will definitely come back. Good for special occasions as well as weekly dining as reasonably priced.

Called to make a reservation for my 27th wedding anniversary. Got there it wasn't on the books. Was seated outside to by my surprise to have to listen to karaoke, the anniversary date ever but rememberable. Have been to the traven in the past. Things have changed. Not sure I will return again. Not a great experience.

This is the first time I have visited Tavern on the Rail. What a magnificent place to dine with a ton of history on this building. The food was served fresh and hot and the price is more than fair for the serving sides. They have full bat down below that I'll have to check out. I had the special ribeye, the small cut. Holy cow! It was huge and delicious. They moderately priced items on the menu should you want something more mainline. Please give this restuarant a try as they are absolutely wonderful!
