Four of us went out on Saturday, July 2nd this year to see the light and it was indeed there! We parked at the parking area off of Highway 182 just southeast of Interstate 30 around 8:00 - 8:30pm (just before sunset). We each had our cell phones full charged plus two fully charged head lamps and a flashlight. Given the instructions on the internet, we weren't certain where to go or what to expect but you can find the light approximately 1.4 - 1.6 miles eastbound on the old tracks. When you approach the tracks, all you will see is the old mound of aggregate rocks piled up in a straight line running west to east. All of the railroad ties are either gone or dumped off into piles between the tree lines and railroad tracks mostly covered in vines and brush. About 1.1 miles down the tracks headed eastbound towards Highway 53, you'll approach a row of powerlines running north to south. If you cross through that open area and continue eastbound another 0.3 - 0.5 miles you'll get to an area completely secluded where you can turn off all of your lights and give yourself the chance to see the Gurdon light! The tracks had some overgrown weeds about waist-high as well as spiders and spider webs but if you push through, it's there! The two tree lines on both sides of the tracks come to a point where the silhouettes of the trees' branches meet the skylight from the moon and come to a point just above ground level. Once you turn off your lights and allow your eyes to adjust, you should see a light about 100 yards distance ahead of you directly inline with the railroad tracks. The light may appear as one single glow or it may have two separate glowing sections slightly separated by a dark figure appearing to be about the width of a person and the light appears to be directed downward at the ground. We saw the light moving back and forth left to right as well as in a circular motion as if whatever the dark figure that was holding the light is searching for something on the ground. I was skeptical at first but once you see the light it is most definitely real and the way it moves it appears that the legends are indeed true! I will be going back!

It was super creepy. It was a really bad night to go for these reasons:
1. It was 32 degrees and everything was frozen.
2. It was a full moon, yet it was pitch black.
3. The railroad bridge that we tried to cross had oil on it and seemed to be frozen because both of us almost fell in.
4. One of our flashlights fell straight into the water, then something else fell into the water directly below us, but it was not from us.

NEVER GO ON A FULL MOON, AT NIGHT WHEN IT'S 32 DEGREES, WHEN THE BRIDGE HAS FROZEN OIL!
