Joy and Raquel the managers here at Motel 6 were amazing ! They both went the extra mile to see that my group of 11 had a smooth check in. I would def stay here again. Rooms are clean , shower is hot, and the microwave and fridge is a great addition.

⭐️-1 Star Review — First-Time Stay, Never Again Unless Paid to Fix Their Problems

I stayed at Motel 6 in Oakdale, CA and unfortunately had a very troubling first-time experience that raises both moral and legal concerns.

Upon check-in, I was required to sign paperwork stating I would not damage the property. Yet, ironically, the motel provided me with a room that already had serious sanitation and maintenance issues — a clogged sewer system, pubic hair on the bathroom floor, and other signs of poor hygiene and neglect.

They even told me, “We’re going to charge you if you leave feces on the floor.” That statement is both hypocritical and offensive considering the state they handed the room to me in. This feels like a setup designed to trap guests — especially those unaware of their rights — into footing the bill for preexisting problems.

I took it upon myself to fix the sewer issue — at my own time and labor — and thoroughly documented everything with photos, timestamps, and notes before and after. I left the room spotless, likely cleaner than how I received it. Despite this, I am concerned that this business model profits off a lack of consumer awareness, targeting vulnerable people with these kinds of waivers and threats of penalties.

Consumer Protection & Legal Concerns:

In California, hotels have a legal duty to exercise reasonable care in maintaining safe and sanitary conditions for guests. If a guest is injured or financially harmed due to negligence, the hotel may be legally liable under negligence law. That includes issues like:
• Unsanitary or unsafe conditions
• Inadequate maintenance of plumbing systems
• Predatory contract practices

Under California law, failure to meet this duty of care can form grounds for a negligence lawsuit, especially if the guest suffers injury or emotional distress.

Additionally, the elderly and inexperienced travelers are especially vulnerable. A senior citizen with no experience handling such matters could easily be taken advantage of — and in that case, Motel 6 could be facing legal liability for consumer neglect or elder abuse.

Motel 6, if you are reading this, please take care of your service systems, stop passing off corporate negligence onto guests, and stop profiting from unfair practices. People deserve respect, cleanliness, and fairness — not threats and dirty rooms.

I came to rest, not to do unpaid labor fixing your problems.

The staff was lovely no complaints there. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked amazingly well. However, our room had a serious cockroach problem. They were all over the bathroom, sink, around the air conditioning unit, and even in the main room. While the front desk did mention that the room wasn’t perfect, I wasn’t expecting to deal with roaches crawling everywhere. It was really disappointing, but unfortunately, we had no other place to stay that night, so it ended up being our only option.

Walked in last minute on a Monday night. Gentlemen at the counter was helpful and accommodating. Within minutes I was in a room. King size bed in a big clean room. Bed was comfy. Couch, microwave, fridge, and plenty of towels. Heater worked nicely. Warmed the room quickly. Happy there was hot coffee in the lobby ready early morning. I enjoyed my short stay.

Its not a bad motel 6. No bugs, no mold in my room. The room is quite large for a motel 6 room. Housekeeping comes a few times a week.
Soda machines are cash only
Sometimes there is loud and obnoxious guests and the staff don't care about them blasting obscene music extremely loud apparently. For hours.
The shower heads are really low and shower curtains are really short (or hung too high)

All in all I would and will stay here again.

Great spot. Next to fast food and a few bars. So if you plan to travel and want to get a drink without the hassle of driving this is a great place. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
