Chisos Mountain Lodge is all about location and convenience — and for that alone, I’m giving it three stars. Nestled inside Big Bend National Park, it offers unparalleled access to some of the most breathtaking trails and views in Texas. Being able to walk out your door and straight into nature is a huge plus.

However, everything else falls short, especially given the high prices. For the premium you're paying, you'd expect at least basic hospitality services, but instead, Aramark (who operates the lodge) appears to be cutting corners wherever possible.

We stayed for 4 nights and received zero housekeeping. No fresh towels delivered, no trash pickup, no room tidying — just a vague “due to COVID” excuse. In 2025, that’s just not acceptable anymore, especially for the rates they’re charging. It feels more like a motel experience at luxury prices, with absolutely no service to back it up.

It’s clear Aramark is focused on increasing profits without reinvesting in service quality. While the surroundings are stunning, the lodge itself is disappointing. You're paying for the privilege of being inside the park, but don’t expect much more than a roof over your head.

Bottom line: Stay here only if you absolutely need the location. The lodge is going thru renovation in May 2025 and will re-open in May 2027.

Chisos Mountain Lodge offers an incredible stay right in the heart of Big Bend National Park, surrounded by breathtaking views and a variety of hiking trails suitable for all skill levels. Whether you're looking for an easy stroll or a challenging trek, there's something for everyone right outside your door.

The lodge itself features a small but convenient bar, restaurant, gift shop, and store, along with a lovely patio that provides the perfect spot to take in the stunning scenery. The staff at the lodge are friendly, helpful, and truly enhance the experience with their excellent service. Parking is ample, making it easy to come and go as you please.

While the rooms are a bit dated and could use some updates, they provide a cozy place to rest after a day of adventure. The restaurant food was average and may not be the best value for the price, but the convenience of having a dining option on-site is a plus. The store has a limited selection, so it’s a good idea to bring along any essentials you might need.

Overall, the Chisos Mountain Lodge is all about location, service, and spectacular views—making it a great choice for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Big Bend.

The lodge is old, but clean. Water can be an issue depending on the amount of rain fall. Take plenty of water with you. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you love your morning coffee, consider bringing coffee with you and water/cream/sugar to make the coffee. At night everyone is quiet, and you will be able to sleep. Location is great for exploring the park. Lodge food is average. If they used water filters in the kitchen it would make the food taste better. I would use this location again, but pack additional water, coffee, and food (sandwiches).

Traveled here for 2 nights with friends for our first big trip traveling the Holidays with friends. This was by far our most favorite stay. Sad to hear they will be closed soon but we had such an amazing stay!!!||The pillows, the sheets the beds-AMAZING-at least for us. The location was the best and we even got to see more than we hoped for including black bears! ||The lighting was perfect for someone who doesn't plan to spend too much time in their room. The hikes and views were so beautiful. ||It was a central location for the park but even being so far out there, the food, breakfast and dinner at least, was on point. ||The staff-the warmest most welcoming staff we encountered the entire trip. The vibe-the BEST. Wish we had stayed here our whole stay vs. marathon. We will be back again once the renovation is complete!

We ate at the Chisos Mountain Lodge restaurant after a long day of hiking the Lost Mine and the Window Trails. The food was out of this world good! My husband even commented to our equally fabulous waiter, Trent, that the chefs must have been gourmet! We ordered the blueberry cobbler for dessert and it did not disappoint. The extra special touch of the graham cracker Texas on top put it over the edge!

Amazing location and views. The lodge and rooms are being renovated, which is about 20 years overdue. The room and amenities are from the 1980's and the product is similar to a Super 8. The staff was OK, didn't know how to operate or even turn on the coffee machine in the gift shop.

This was our first trip to BBNP as Texans and oh man it did not disappoint. Chisos Mountain Lodge is the only place to stay in the park unless you camp. If you can, go before May 1st as the lodge, restaurant, store and visitor center will be demolished for rebuilding. This is estimated to take two years. This means ALL the hiking trails in the Basin will be unavailable. I believe Lost Mine will be accessible but not certain. The current lodge is not luxury but fine. Restaurant was also good quality but expensive. I never expect a bargain at a National Park. The park itself was amazing (I personally would only go in the cooler months). If you hike, there are hikes for all abilities. If you don’t, driving and checking out the scenery and exhibits were also great. We didn’t see any bears (sad) or snakes (very happy) but did see a fox in the lodge area, beautiful birds, so many road runners and two coyote getting cars to stop in hopes of getting some food. Please don’t indulge them. We really were stunned by the beauty and sorry it will be over two years before we can return but will book the first December the new lodge is open!
