We’ve made the 9 hour drive 3 times to stay at Terlingua Ranch and have enjoyed our stay every time. We even decided to get married there back in October. We really appreciated the atmosphere and the attention from the staff. The rooms were clean and the food at the Bad Rabbit was awesome. They did a great job accommodating our large group of family and friends. Will definitely be back. Special thanks to Dre in the kitchen!!

Overall, our visit at the Ranch during the week of March 16, 2025 was very good. Great scenery, staff at the office and the Bad Rabbit Cafe. Onsite, the laundromat and Cafe were great conveniences. Drawbacks were limited WiFi, especially in our cabin and the one hour drive to the entrance to Big Bend National Park. PS If you have a flat tire and need the tire to be repaired (as we did), we suggest Terlingua Auto, 23341 FM 170, Terlingua TX 79852 432-371-2191. Tom and staff were friendly, fast and reasonable ($30 to patch the tire). Also, a suggestion to use a full size SUV or equal vehicle on your trip to drive the additional 3 mile gravel road to the Ranch and to drive some of the Big Bend NP gravel roads with comfort and confidence.

I've stayed here the past 2 years and I love this place. I plan on coming back next year. It's only a short scenic 50 minute drive from Big Bend National Park. This place has comfortable lodging, a friendly staff and amazing food at the Bad Rabbit Cafe. Everyone I've showed this place has enjoyed it and wants to come back.

I stayed at TRL 5 years ago and they have improved. They renovated the rooms and the Bad Rabbit restaurant has excellent food, service and prices. The only thing that I don’t like is the 3 miles of rough dirt road to get there. But it’s worth the drive to me because of the service and the beautiful canyon it resides in.

We stayed at Terlingua Ranch two nights and ladies bathroom was dirty both evenings. I was really disappointed that none of the electric/water sites included a picnic table. The dirty shower house and no picnic tables were a disappointment after a long day at big bend. The campground is a good 45minutes from the convenience of Terlingua proper. The people were respectful and the campground in general was clean.

If you're just staying for a night Terlinga Ranch is a decent (possibly a bit overpriced) option. Should have read the reviews before booking because the drive from the cabins to Big Bend was exhausting (1-1.5+ hours depending on where exactly you want to go in the park). And you're 30 miles away from the actual town of Terlinga and any other food options. The gravel/ dirt drive for 3 miles gets exhausting (we have done 3/4 nights so far).
Cannot speak to staff/ service as we checked in after hours (which went fine after locating the cabin).
Let's talk about the cabin/ room: it is SO DARK. We have 3 lights in the main room and we have to use our phone flashlight or headlamp to see because it's just that dark- I know we worry about light pollution but this seems extreme. There is no exhaust fan in the shower so there is mold. There is no hair dryer, microwave or coffee pot - acceptable but sad for the price. The floor is a bit sticky but the sheets/bed and bath were all clean themselves. The wifi works.
If the price was significantly cheaper (for a cabin/room) than other options I'd say go for it and stay here- otherwise I'd recommend a different option if available.

We stayed in a cabin room over Thanksgiving week and loved the tranquility of the location. We especially loved the little half mile hike up to the little bench at the top of the hill behind the tent sites. We watched sunrise and sunset from there and heard coyotes and an owl. We also saw a little grey fox around the cabin which seemed to live there and wasn't phased by the people. We also loved the Thanksgiving dinner that was served from 11-2 for only $15. The staff at the Bad Rabbit Cafe was awesome too. It's a whole family and they were so welcoming and enjoyable to chat with. We missed going up Christmas Mountain via car because it was booked up. Call ahead to make a reservation.
Our only gripe was the 3 miles of dirt road leading up to the lodge property which was not fun to drive over. Also, we recommend arriving during the daylight as we saw a bunch of people struggle to find their sites since it was so dark. There was no cell service but the main lodge wifi reached our cabin for a couple days but I wouldn't bet on it since we were pretty much the closest cabins. There is also wifi in the cafe.

Stayed here for a few nights while visiting Big Bend. Absolutely loved this lodge. Beautiful location. Overall accommodations are amazing especially for such a great price. After a good day of hiking coming back here was great. The lodges are comfortable and the sky’s at night are a beautiful dark sky filled with stars. Wake up in the morning to a beautiful desert. Staff keeps everything great. Cafe at the lodge is good food. If you appreciate the quiet seclusion of the desert you will love this lodge
