We really enjoyed our camping stay here. It was a very relaxing park with well spaced campsites, clean facilities, pleasant staff and great hiking trails. We stayed in site 36 the first night and it was very un level and uneven so both front to back and left to right was not level. As many of you know, with an RV this is a terrible combination and we couldn’t get level which made for an uncomfortable evening. The following day we moved to site 7 which was much better. The hiking trails were super and well marked, swimming in the river was fantastic and they even recycle!

This state park is absolutely captivating, picturesque & serene. There are plenty of trails leading to numerous adventures. Moderate to steep elevation is advised.
When given the chance, go explore this beauty! Be prepared to put in the work.

Side note: Take plenty of water & or snacks to refuel. Low water crossing is possible so ne mindful when picking out foot wear.

A GREAT PARK FOR A DAY OR A WEEK. We enjoyed the RV loop in this park. It was located near many of the trail heads. We stayed in site 29, which backs up a bluff but is heavily vegetated that obstructs the view of the river. Of course, the main attraction are the falls themselves. There are many areas to explore and photograph. There is a dedicated swimming area downstream and has a separate trail head. For a longer stay, there are extended horse, biking, and hiking trails. The local area is known for restaurants and the LBJ park. We will return to this park many times in the years ahead.

I visited in the spring and had a really nice time climbing over the rocks by the falls and admiring the water and its wonderful shade of blue.

I also hiked the Wolf Mountain Trail, but wouldn't really recommend it unless you just want to get some miles in. I didn't see anything particularly interesting on the trail and the views from the loop at the mid-point weren't that great. (I'll also note that the map says it's a 3 or so mile trail, I clocked a little over 5 starting and ending at the parking lot.)

All that being said, it's an awesome park and I'm excited to go back to revisit the falls and try out some other trails!

We hiked wolf mountain trail.

Wolf Mountain Trail
• Distance: ~5.8 miles loop
• Difficulty: Moderate
• Description: This longer loop trail takes hikers through wooded areas, open grasslands, and along the river. It offers access to primitive campsites and scenic views of the Pedernales River.

Trail Features:
• Terrain: The trail is predominantly wide and well-maintained, making it accessible for various skill levels. However, there are sections with elevation changes, especially around Wolf Mountain, offering hikers moderate challenges.
• Scenery: Hikers can enjoy a mix of wooded areas, open grasslands, and scenic views of the Pedernales River. Notable spots include Jones Spring and Bee Creek, which are picturesque and provide opportunities for rest.

Recommendations:
• Preparation: Given the potential for longer distances and limited shade in certain areas, it’s advisable to carry ample water, wear sun protection, and start early to avoid midday heat.
• Navigation: While the trail is well-marked, using a GPS device or a reliable trail map can help in accurately tracking progress and ensuring a safe return.

Overall, the Wolf Mountain Trail provides a rewarding hike with diverse terrains and scenic spots, making it a favorite among visitors to Pedernales Falls State Park.

Fantastic park. The falls were nice but a fair hike. I had difficulty getting cell service in the campground area but they had wifi at the Ranger office. I stayed 2 nights and was able to visit other places in the area. Lots of wineries and good food in Johnson city

Nice park, loved the trails, loved the river access. Now the RV spots.... Well, if they could list what spots have a heavy Slope that would be awesome. Stayed for 10 days in 36 foot 5th wheel. Plenty of room around the camper however, it had a heavy down Slope to the rear and drop to the left pretty good. There was no way to level out with that kinda pitch the driveway had. No amout of blocks would help unless you wanted one side of the acle 3 foot off the ground. Make sure to look at whatever photos are on the website and call if you can to check what the pitch is so you can game plan accordingly. Park over all great place to visit. Very open camp sites, nice hiking trails and very good place to see all the stars in the clear sky's.

I have been to this state park a few times, but never for camping. I loved the campground. The sites were
very spacious and private. Lived the separate fire ring area with great covered picnic tables. I would have given 5 stars for 50 amp electric posts. Beautiful state park with super friendly staff.
