We had our wedding at White Oak this past weekend. It was absolutely beautiful. The environment is warm, inviting, comfortable and accommodating. They provide chairs and tables which is so great! They were super helpful and even improved the venue from the time I toured. They were easy to work with and fun to chat with. If you’re looking for a venue that is stunning yet simple in all of the right ways, they’re the right choice!

The picturesque setting, with its lush greenery and charming surroundings, creates the perfect atmosphere for a dream wedding. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible hospitality and support from the owners. They are incredibly helpful, attentive, and go above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly, making the entire planning process stress-free. There are some places that really deserve ZERO stars, so just imagine this is a zero star review. Recently, some dear family friends (some of the nicest and kindest people on earth) booked White Oak Weddings and Events space near Henderson, TN, for their eldest daughter's wedding. How wonderful it was going to be to have something so close to home where an admittedly lovely venue was available. Unfortunately, the scenic location was absolutely RUINED by Mike (the owner) and his absolutely TERRIBLE behavior. You know how some people are obviously meant to be in the hospitality business? Mike seems to have been born to do whatever is the OPPOSITE of the hospitality business. If there were awards for Inhospitality, I imagine Mike would win every year, hands down. I'm not sure why he seemed so emotionally triggered, but it was almost like he wanted to be the bride, based on the amount of drama he was throwing around. Mike's poor wife kept apologizing and making excuses for him, but it was too little, too late. The most incredible moment was when he INTERRUPTED the service to very loudly and publicly accuse my friend of not paying the downpayment. Even after my friend PROVED via a bank app Mike had ALREADY CASHED THE DOWNPAYMENT CHECK, Mike insultingly demanded a receipt from my friend, and NEVER APOLOGIZED!!! Mike seemed to only double and tripled down on his bad behavior. Mike also incessantly insisted he would NOT help move things (no one expected that) and seemed REALLY insulted no one wanted to use his special spools as decorations. My personal opinion is to USE EXTREME CAUTION if you are considering using White Oak if you want a stress free event. However, in my opinion, if you want to REALLY have a high-drama event, Mike seems to be an excellent resource.

I think this is the first negative review I have ever left for anything, but unfortunately I cannot recommend White Oak Weddings and Events. I attended a wedding yesterday for a family member. I am not an immediate family member but was there to help pull off a totally rearranged plan due to the storms that were threatening this weekend. The family was super stressed at the task of trying to move all the plans up a full day while still beating predicted storms. They really needed to have things go as smoothly as possible from the venue, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

However, let me start with the positive. The setting and the facility are beautiful. The rustic look and the backdrop of the lake, fountain and trees that were in full bloom make for a beautiful setting for a wedding or event. The only downside I would mention to the facility itself is that if you have a larger wedding party or need extra dressing or catering prep space, those areas are pretty small.

The negativity comes as a result of the behavior of one of the owners, Mike. I personally witnessed him being extremely rude to both the mother and father of the bride, the wedding coordinator and other individuals who were trying to make this young couple’s day special. At one point he told the mother of the bride, “I have moved everything I am gonna move for y’all today.” There are other moments that could make the list but the worst offense was him walking up to the father of the bride literally minutes before the ceremony was about to begin, pointing a finger in his face and accusing him of having not paid a portion of the fee. This was proven to be incorrect by a canceled check in online banking to which Mike’s response was, “You didn’t get a receipt from us?” Let me just say that the hospitality industry might not be his forte’.

A side note to this would be that the family paid for the use of the facility for Friday night and Saturday, but only used it Friday night after rushing to get it all in. As of the writing of this review, no offer of a refund has been made by White Oak.

To be fair, I will also end with a positive. The other owner, Ruth, was wonderful, even apologizing to some who were involved in the wedding. If you do choose to have your event at White Oak, I would recommend only dealing with her if possible.

I’m the sister of the bride who got married at this venue. It makes me frustrated that I’m still reminiscing on the poor behavior the owners exhibited. My family, especially my parents, are very self-controlled when it comes to dealing with an incompetent person like Mike (the owner). My parents showed nothing but kindness and never exploded. The fact that my parents were kind to Mike and he still decided to act out shows who the problem is. He was not only difficult to communicate with but also incredibly rude. Mike made what should have been a joyous and special time incredibly stressful and unpleasant. The venue itself may seem appealing, but the behavior and unhelpful attitude of the owner completely ruined our experience. I would not recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a positive and memorable wedding day. It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful event was overshadowed by such poor service and treatment.

As the father of the bride for the wedding at this venue last weekend, I feel obligated to warn all potential future customers. The venue owner should not be trusted with an event as important as a wedding.
We brushed off his condescending and negative attitude earlier in the day. But even we were surprised he stooped so low as to confront me minutes before I was supposed to walk my daughter down the aisle, falsely accusing me of owing him money.
He literally pointed his finger in my face and said, “You owe me $750!” The ceremony was mere minutes from starting. When I showed him evidence of the $750 check that he cashed, he was indignant, doubled down, and asked for a receipt. He was not mortified at his behavior and intrusion. He was not embarrassed, and he did not apologize. My wife was in tears because of how we were being treated.
As if this inappropriate and unprofessional behavior wasn't bad enough, he then started bad mouthing us to our own wedding guests.
What set this guy off? What would make him so irritable?
He graciously offered to move anything within reason if we didn't want it for the ceremony. So we asked him to move 3 tables we didn't need, an industrial spool we didn't want, and one whiskey barrel that was in the way. That's it...and he is the one that offered.
All of that, and the venue was unswept and the bar was filthy (took 3 times to wipe it clean).
His own wife had to go behind him apologizing for him, and she said more than once, "he just gets this way sometimes." But he never once apologized much less acted sorry for his unprofessionalism.
This man has no business being in the hospitality business.

This is the wedding venue you want for a first rate experience. The owners take meticulous care in all the arrangements agreed upon. All arrangements were perfect! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful as you can see by the numerous pictures posted here.

This might not be the best place to have your wedding! I was a guest, family related to the bride. If you are looking for a wedding venue, my recommendation is you should look elsewhere.

The venue itself is small, but nice: clean, nice backdrop, etc. HOWEVER……the owner was extremely rude the entire time he was around! By the time I arrived, I had already heard several stories of his being a huge problem. Since I was not personally involved in those, I will only relay the story for which I was present. There was a string of lights on the deck (where the ceremony was to take place); these lights were glowing Green. The bride wanted them to be white if at all possible, otherwise off. Sounds simple, right? Apparently not. After some of us were running around trying to find a controller or remote that would change the color (unsuccessfully), the owner was called to see if he could come help. When he arrived a few minutes later, all he could focus on and talk about was the fact that some OTHER string of lights was off. These lights were not even visible from the ceremony “stage!!” He spent several minutes trying to figure that out and helped us with the actual problem ZERO! His wife finally figured out what we wanted, and changed the lights to white (thankfully).

I was also standing there when the father of the bride was confronted about paying the final payment MINUTES before the ceremony was supposed to begin. Extremely rude and distinctly aggressive, especially considering the timing, of which he was well aware. He literally made the mother of the bride cry during all that, and he was proven wrong about the money and STILL tried to put the blame on the family. Unbelievable.

The one thing that I saw that was positive: someone locked the men’s bathroom door from the inside, and forgot to unlock it upon exiting, which means no one could get back in, of course (simple fix, by the way - install a new door knob that won’t open from the inside when it is locked on the outside). The owner was called at that point to come unlock it, which he did without incident (surprisingly).

Again, a nice place, but dealing with this guy - Nope.
