Beautiful area with many trails and pristine views. Well maintained, dog friendly. Great place for families and couples. The fort itself is reconstructed but better than average. Originally established in the 1750s, lots of attention has been given to historical details such as the honey locust abatis which was planted by the soldiers. The reconstructed 1790s Tellico Blockhouse (also worth visiting) can be viewed across what used to be the Little Tennessee River.

This place is really amazing. I'm surprised they don't charge to enter. It is maintained better than most. The visitor center has a lot of historical artifacts. The replicated fort is really cool too see. You can go in most of the buildings and check out how it was operated back in those days. You can walk around the entire place and it's really clean. Also, beautiful views.

We had a great time at Fort Loudon. My family loved seeing the museum, learning about the fort, and then getting to experience it themselves. We spent about two hours here and it was worth the drive. Made for a fun family outing.

Went to Fort Loudoun Saturday afternoon to have a look around with the kids. It's a replica of a British fort built in 1756. It's a well maintained state park on the Tellico Reservoir. It has walls with cannon placements as well as firing placements. It has barracks, gaurd houses, blacksmith shop, armory, powder house, indian structures, and numerous fortifications. You explore everything freely on your own. There are also numerous trails and beaches. It's an excellent place to spend an afternoon exploring. The views of the lake and nearby mountains are amazing.
In addition to the fort there is a visitors center with a museum and theater. Numerous artifacts from the original fort are in the museum. Lots of interactive displays and scale models of the fort and it's armorments. There is also a historian there to answer questions.
A large gift shop has souvenirs and t-shirts. There's numerous other things that pertain to the fort.
This is an excellent place to spend an afternoon with the family. It's absolutely free but a donation is appreciated. There's plenty of free parking and picnic areas. I highly recommend a visit to Fort Loudoun State Historic area.

Informational stop to learn about the fort. It's interesting to see the different buildings and layout of the fort. Nice, quiet, wooded area good for a short hike to get to the fort.
