Everything was amazing.
Best soul food in Chattanooga!
We've had the chicken wings, whiting, catfish, greens, Mac and cheese, yams.
All of it was perfect.

This restaurant was recommended to me by the hotel clerk. Miss Diana and the crew were so nice to me and helped me order. Being from Canada I was not overly familiar with the menu but really excited to try things.
I got the fried catfish with candied yams and fried okra. Came with coleslaw and hot sauce.
Food was DELICIOUS and this is exactly the kind of local place I love coming to.
Noticed a lot of community awards for involvement humanitarian volunteerism in Chattanooga.
Real good food made by real good people.

Ordered food from there yesterday. Food was horrible. We used to eat there often when you could dine inside. Our food order was wrong. Most of the food was tossed in the garbage, not editable. They have sweet cornbread and I guess they use the leftovers to make chicken and dressing ( no I do not want sweet dressy). I paid over 30.00 for two meals and gave her a tip. Just wasted money I won't go back.

Fantastically delicious, authentic Soul food! We were just passing through on I-75 and searched for Soul food. Great decision to try Herman's! Unbelievably friendly staff are our new besties! Try the fried corn!

Delicious. My aunt is from Delaware, and I'm from Baltimore. This is some real home cooking. The peach cobbler was so good that I ordered a pan to take. The people are so pleasant. Dora, thank you.

I wanted some Soul Food here in Chattanooga. We was finally in the area of this Restaurant on today, I had already Google this place already prior to going here. It was on point. Unfortunately my hubby food was all gone quickly before I could take pictures of it, but his food was good too 😋😋

My Mom and I were looking for a place to eat near my new house, and after a previous disappointment in a "southern food" restaurant, we decided to try Herman's based on reviews and the online menu. When we got there around 6 there was only one other car in the parking lot so we were hesitant. Walking in, the place is nothing fancy. We were told to sit wherever we wanted. A small group of women came in after us. We sat there for a few minutes and it became obvious that the other women were regulars because they were waited on ahead of us while we were barely acknowledged and I was afraid this was going to be another bad dinner. The server chatted up the women and talked to them about oxtail, which I didn't see on the menu. I kind of butted in and asked about it because I love oxtail. He then came over and took our orders and became somewhat friendlier, bringing out a sample of oxtail for me. My Mom ordered the smothered pork chops and I ordered the fried catfish filets. I wasn't sure what kind of beans I wanted in addition to my Mac n cheese so I asked him to just being me whatever their best beans were. He brought out our food very quickly, along with the table that arrived after us. The portions were big. He also brought me sides of every bean they had! The only issue we had with the food was that there was quite a bit of fat and gristle on the one pork chop my Mom ate. We ended up taking home enough food for another 2-3 meals! And my catfish was amazing, both times!! I introduced myself to our server and told him I was moving about 5 minutes away. He said his name was Vaughn, and though things started slow, he ended up being very nice and told me to ask for him again. I'd definitely come back!! By the time we left the restaurant was very busy so I guess 7 pm is peak for them.

Ordered online. Food was supposed to be ready by 2 p.m. Other customers were coming in placing orders and got their food before I did. I didn’t get my food until after 2:30 p.m. and I’m glad that I checked it there because all of my food was not in the bag. I don’t expect instant potatoes from a soul food restaurant. I can handle canned green beans as long as they are seasoned but this cornbread muffin is harder than a rock and the meatloaf is cold. Total disappointment and waste of time.
