Meh. Reading the reviews, this is probably the best BBQ around and getting jammed with customers - price point is high and delivery order was pretty bad.

This is not a destination BBQ place, don’t go out of your way for it.

Called ahead to find out what was gluten free gf - wings are fried, they can be grilled, but that isn’t an option ordering online.

I’m in town 1 night at the airport Hilton - very close, <20 minutes for the delivery - so that doesn’t account for the lackluster quality of what was received. Salad was good - appreciate they suggested ranch for gluten free vs blue cheese. Two meat plate - 3 ribs. Asked for ‘wet’ brisket. Everything is dry as a bone. I’m not an advocate for ‘fall off the bone’ but these ribs were dry. Brisket is too - if I wasn’t hungry, I’d not eat it. What is good: sauce is unique, collards have a touch of sweet that is really good. Baked beans were a little watery, but would’ve been good had everything else been up to par. Maybe it was an off night? Not the place to try if you’re in Boston - others are better. Not very good value for money. Small portions.

First time eating here. Wasn't able.to get a table due to a party. Ordered food to go. 24 wings for $35.99 (WAY OVERPRICED) and the crispy chicken. Chicken was so dry. Cornbread was dry and the sweet potato salad was not flavorful. Collard greens were the only thing good, HOWEVER; for spending $59.90 it DEFINITELY WAS NOT WORTH IT. WILL DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND OR HO BACK HERE AGAIN!! FIRST AND LAST TIME!!

We love Blackstrap in my house.

Have been ordering takeout from this place for years, was a pandemic favorite. Have never dined in house, but seems like a nice resteraunt. It's my favorite bbq in the area.

On occasion, we have received some dry food (corn bread, cajun chix to be specific). But as we say in this house, the flavor is always there! 😉 It has never been bad enough to make us not want to order again and have remained customers for several years.

Awesome first experience at Blackstrap. Sat at the bar and was greeted by a super friendly staff. Good atmosphere and energy for a beer and some food.

My brisket was a little dry so looking forward to trying it again before ruling it out. Their special, poutine, was actually amazing. Can confirm as a Canadian.

what can I say other than this place's food has never disappointed me. they keep a rotating option of specials, always amazing. great staff, quick & friendly. even if your just looking for a spot for drinks, their bar is stocked and their bartenders now their craft. if you can't decide what to order, I say go with the 3 meat combo, comes with two sides and cornbread. thank me later!

They are very obviously biased/discriminatory in who they choose to serve. We walked in at 9pm (Google, the sign in front of their door, and their website all say they’re open until 11) and we were told they had apparently just closed their kitchen the minute we walked in…not worth the trip, there’s great bbq places all over boston, try those before even attempting to go here. These guys don’t want your business. Especially if you are not white.

Great atmosphere and lots of drinks! However being from the south , the barbecue is a little greasy and the prices are too high. And the side items need a lot of work. However Chris the owner, and goes over and above to help customers feel happy and satisfied

Nice little place in Winthrop. Atmosphere is great. Good selection of craft cocktails and craft beer.
Food was hit and miss. The vinegar flavor to the pulled pork had a nice zing to it but was a bit overwhelming. The burnt ends were flavorful and tender but could have been crisper. The spicy slaw and mashed potatoes were spot on.
I'd like to come back and try some other dishes, including the BBQ fries. And I disagree with other reviewers comparing Blackstrap to places in the Carolinas and Texas. I didn't expect the place to be internationally competitive. It's good for Boston and worth a visit.
