In general, it's a great program for individuals who are coping with mental illnesses. Note that it is a clubhouse, NOT a day treatment program. For the most part, it's compliant with the Clubhouse Standards. (See the Clubhouse International website for details) Also, the staff are really fun and have a great sense of humor. If you live in the Northern Suburban Boston area, have a persistent mental illness, (Don't worry, your privacy will be protected. We are HIPAA compliant too) and are interested in getting a job, going back to school, doing social activites or even just contributing to a community, this would be a great place to consider. Please call us and schedule a tour!

DISCLAIMER: I am neither the owner nor director nor even staff of the program, but a member. Just happened to be the first one to review it on Google Maps. 😀

Horizon House is a pretty good social club & rehab program for people with psychological issues although it doesn't abide strictly to the "clubhouse model" of human service run social club/rehab programs (Google "clubhouse model & Fountain House in New York City"). It's drug dealing hotspot days of when it was run by the Center for Health & Development are LONG GONE ever since Riverside Community Care did an EXCELLENT job of cleaning up the club's seedy aspect when it took over several years ago & they're very strict about the no drugs or alcohol rule & anyone intoxicated is asked to leave. They're awesome about member involvement. Their canteen however is only open if someone feels like running it, I personally feel that doesn't encourage the responsibility & committing to an obligation that's required in the real world & 1 characterizing feature of the "clubhouse model" is getting people who've been hospitalized or haven't worked for whatever reason, prepared to transition back into society. But they've helped a lot of people with going back to school, I can't say which schools, I haven't looked into that & they have dozens of "TEP" placements too although I'm not sure they only put members that meet all the requirements for working in a "TEP" position. They also help members with housing & finding housing. They also do a great job with the social & recreational aspect of the club they have holiday parties & dances & cookouts & arts & crafts & leisurely Saturday's & games & going bowling & they go out to eat at different restaurants the 1st & 2nd Thursdays of each month as well as have a "vacation week at the end of each August where members can sign up for day trips ie Hampton Beach, New England Aquarium, Rockport, Canobie Lake Park, Museum of Science, Quincy Market as well as alternative bad weather trips for the outdoor trips. There's also the the thrift shop where you can get some pretty good deals & it's a good place to donate to if you have some stuff you don't need or want but is still good, useful stuff.
