This was our seventh year in a row going out to see the seals with Captain Rob - it has become a family tradition for us and is enjoyable every time we go! It’s a great view of Orleans and Chatham from the water and Captain Rob provides a great telling of all the lore of the area and the sea animals, seals and sharks alike. With so many seals in the area, it’s only a matter of time before they show up on the tour.

We went for my daughter’s 4th birthday because she loves seals. Captain Rob is super friendly with a great sense of humor and made us feel welcomed. Boat was sanitized, hand sanitizer available before we boarded, and he wore a mask the whole time. Excellent tour guide with interesting stories and he shared facts about the area and sea life. Highly recommend Blue Claw Boat Tours!

We booked a day before we went (a Friday afternoon) and ended up getting our own boat for the six of us (4 adults, 2 young kids). It was a gorgeous day and Captain Russ was awesome. The boat ride was pleasant and enjoyable - Captain Russ was very knowledgeable and friendly. He knew where the seals would be and they were certainly plentiful! Definitely recommend!

Loved our seal watch! This is a great way to get out on the water and get up close and personal with the seals. We brought our toddler for his first boat ride ever and it was the perfect experience for him, a nice small boat with a smooth ride, and a few fun hops over wakes from other boats and zippy turns for excitement. This is a great option if you want something different from the traditional whale watch with much less time commitment and no crowds- with the smaller boat, you get a much more intimate experience and everyone has great views.

Go at low tide so you can catch the seals resting on the sandbars. We must have seen a hundred seals easily between the sandbars, Chatham commercial harbor, and out hunting along the islands. Not the focus of the trip, but we also saw a good variety of birds, including cormorants, terns, gulls, green herons, and some migrating shorebirds.

We had an amazing experience with Blue Claw boat tours. Captain Rob was terrific. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He shared lots on interesting facts along our tour which the whole family loved. We would highly recommend Blue Claw to anyone looking for a low key, relaxing evening boat tour. We took a really nice sunset cruise with Captain Rob earlier this month (August 2022) and would recommend it as a great way to get out on the waters of Pleasant Bay. The Captain was fun to talk to and provide great local insight, but he managed to strike that balance of not being too much and giving us our our space as well. The boat is not anything fancy but it's safe and comfortable. I recommend Blue Claw Boat Tours!

Captain Rob was a fantastic tour guide that brought us right to where the seals were and pointed out historical landmarks on our way out to the seals. He was extremely knowledgeable and we would definitely do this trip again in the future. Highly recommend!
