A glimpse into the past, take your dog and walk along the trail leading to old Monson Center in Hollis, NH. The village dates back to 1737, then was mysteriously abandoned in 1770. There are only a few cellar holes left and a small restored house that serves as a museum. Beautiful trails to walk along this scenic property.

Amazing place. Not the highest mileage for trail walking, and some spots have slightly difficult terrain with tree roots and rocks. However, the history, views, and feeling of this area are sumblime. In the Spring, you can even see herons nesting in the dead trees at the North end of the main trail if you're lucky. Check this place out for sure.

Easy hiking. Beautiful field and stone walls. One house is still intact, the rest are just remnants of foundations. Cool little piece of history from 1700’s. Lots of mountain laurels.

Very interesting historic site, and a lovely place for a little walk and to appreciate the wildlife.
The information on historic foundations and who lived there was very intriguing. Also the sight of some incredible American sweet chestnuts!
It’s important to note that only some foundations and stone walls remain, along with one recreated house.

Great place to walk around for a bit and visit the old house foundations and learn a bit about the history of the village. Be aware that signage and trail markage is poor and this was a bit of a bummer for me. A few objects outside the Gould house seemed interesting but there was nothing/no one around to tell us what they had been used for. I guess the groundskeeper/owner of the Gould house wasn't there when we were (1 pm on a Saturday) and that was disappointing as we couldn't go inside the restored house. All in all I enjoyed the walk and seeing the historic village.

What a wonderful area. Nice hiking trails and some interesting areas where old houses were located years ago. Have visited here in the late summer and again in early December.

Love love love love, what a great experience. Even got to meet the prior owner of the grounds, 'Russ" and his little dog. He even offered me a tour of the old homestead. Amazing man, amazing land. Ill.be back again soon.

A beautiful hike filled with pre-American Revolution history. If you are fortunate enough to be there at the same time as the care-taker you can explore the one house that's still standing from the original town and has been filled with antiques. The care-taker is also a wealth of knowledge.
