We did not have a great experience with Sand Dollar. The pictures from the rental house and the associated beach were 5+ years old and once we arrived the beach was not what it seemed, as it was not swimmable at all due to massive rocks at water level. There had also been significant beach erosion, leaving a much smaller beach than indicated in the pictures.

In contacting them in the first 24 hours, they did offer a full refund if we wanted to leave, but we opted to make the best of it given we had already taken the time off and had the family unpacked.

This was especially frustrating as I talked to them directly before we booked asking very specific questions about how rocky the beach was, if people swam here, etc. Just felt like a bait and switch or they didn't know much about their own properties.

Later in the week, I reached out as the contractors next door were running electrical chords to our house to power their table saws. I never heard back from anyone.

Lastly, I just had a lengthy conversation with the owner of Sand Dollar and his opinion was that once they offered a refund, I was no longer entitled to share feedback or have a negative perception of the house. I was also told that it was unreasonable for them to have to up-to-date pictures on all their properties because 'no one does that.'

There's no way we'll be using them again.

House was not clean or well maintained:
Strong musty odor in house upon arrival, especially in kitchen cabinets.
Rain leak in hot water heater vent. Had to put a bucket underneath to catch all the dripping water.
Missing light bulb in lamp and no spares in house.
Legs on table very loose. I needed to tighten them to prevent the table from collapsing

House was not safe:
No batteries in smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector.
Very old fire extinguisher, likely expired.
Temperature markings worn off of oven control knob, unreadable.

Reservation and check in communication was good so I give 2 stars.

Won't rent to you if you are even five points below their arbitrary credit score requirement even if you work full time and offer additional months of rent upfront

response to response: There is a difference between requiring and the renter offering.
Your comparison to a small bank loan is irrelevant and not even true. Setting a hard arbitrary credit score requirement doesn't ensure you find good tenants and is bad business. My credit score could swing up 5 points next month and you would have rented to me even though my finances would be the exact same.

A couple years ago, my husband and I set out to find a family vacation spot for our three kids and us. We wanted one that would entertain our very energetic and inquisitive kids, but also be relaxing for us. We set our sites on Cape Cod, but decided on East Sandwich so we were not right in the hustle and bustle, but not so far removed if we wanted to spend the day in town. We stumbled upon Sand Dollar Realty, and rented a place from them. We knew we found the spot that we would return to every year. We have been trying new cottages on the same street for the past couple of years, and Sand Dollar Realty has been amazing to work with. Their staff is always there to greet us with a smile upon arrival, and extremely responsive with any questions we have along the way. We even decided to book my parents in one of their rentals for an anniversary present for them. My parents could not stop raving about how Sand Dollar Realty went above and beyond to help accommodate them with a place that would be suitable for my mom. She has limited mobility due to a knee replacement, and the staff at Sand Dollar made sure to find her a place where she could get out to sit in the sand without too much trouble. I have recommended Sand Dollar to anyone who asks me who we book through. If you're looking for fantastic customer service and knowledgeable staff regarding the Cape Cod area, look no further then Sand Dollar Realty. We're so glad we found them, and look forward to many more years of family vacations and memories to last a lifetime.

The good folks at Sand Dollar Realty are super helpful and a pleasure to work with. They helped my wife and me rent a beautiful and really comfortable home in East Sandwich, then they took care of every little detail. Sand Dollar is wonderful! We have rented from them for 2 years. Transactions are super easy and staff is always friendly. We have never had an issue with our rental. It is always super clean. And the location can not be beat. We are renting again next year! We can not wait.
