Similar story to share but with a positive ending. We were required to book travel 30 days in advance, but didn’t receive our game times until 2 weeks prior. After letting Halpern know the situation, they gladly refunded the deposit paid for the 2 night it not necessary to stay with our adjusted schedule. Awful customer service. Excessive fees. Much cheaper to make your own reservations. Avoid using at all costs.

Thanks for capitalizing on me being busy and only being able to cancel 10 days in prior to the reservation.

Edited Review: I received a follow up phone call from the customer service manager, Dan regarding the interaction with the Customer Service rep. He gave me space to speak and to voice my concerns and issues with the previous interaction and situation. As it is, the Google review is not about the $50 charge but more about the rude unprofessional customer service rep that I encountered.

However, I very much appreciate the professionalism of Dan.. He also was given space to speak his perspective and point of view on the reservation issues/mistakes he even enlightened me on what specifically happened. Dan shared his philosophy of Customer Service, he truly embodies the true Spirit of Customer Service.

I am changing my one star to a four star. And will consider using Halpern travel in the future for all sporting team events that we have planned based on Dan‘s stellar customer service and willingness to listen.

The customer service at this company is bottom of the barrel. We have been forced to use there money-making service repeatedly for soccer tournaments. There is no doubt that they profit from the quid pro quo with the soccer tournaments whose poor follow through to post schedules to teams before the hotels 2 week cancellation policy but require teams to use their services. “Cancellation policy” which isn’t even a true cancellation. The company requires a 2 night stay and when you try to adjust your reservation to 1 night they say your only option is to cancel and be charged the $50 cancellation fee. This has happened to us 3 separate times at 3 different tournaments in different states. Positively ridiculous and a complete scam. Will never book another hotel reservation with them regardless of the tournament policy. A completely illegal monopoly!

Their $50 14 day cancellation was confusing and not stated when you cancel via the confirmation email. When we called to get an explanation of the charge to our credit card, Adam… an employee could not have been more rude and unprofessional. The manager seemed more friendly, but ended up hanging up on us without a goodbye.
Just book on your own….
