It would be perfect if there are public restrooms near the playground.

Newly renovated, and they did a fantastic job with it. They managed to pack an amazing amount of stuff into a small park space, and it seems like they got just about every request from the community meetings. Wooden play structures and climbing structures, swings,a sand pit and water feature, a track for scooters and an observation deck to watch the trains go by. (Very popular among the age six and below crowd.) They even kept the huge, beautiful, old shade tree in the center of the park and highlighted it with lovely seating. The only down side, I guess, is that they cut the footprint of the basketball court - from a half-size court with two baskets, so you could play a real game, to an area just bigger than a free throw zone, with one basket. Good for practicing baskets and still seems popular, which is great, but still a bit of a trade off from the old space. Overall, though, a huge improvement and clearly the new version is super popular.

I love this new playground. First--trains! It took us a couple of visits before my son would leave the overlook area because he was so thrilled to see the trains. But it's both compact-ish so I could an eye on my older daughter who was loving the natural climbing elements. It's all very minimal but different which leads to great flexibility for games. And there's a tree for shade. If they'd put a port-o-potty in it would be perfect.

The playground was totally renovated over the past year and reopened on 8/25/2018. The new layout and structures are great! Kid's from toddlers to middle schoolers were all having a great time. There's still a lot more shade (trees) than most Somerville playgrounds, which is great. And they actually built a platform to watch the trains go by.

great place to hang out and bring the kids, or sit in at night and hear the trains go by.

there's a kid safe train observation platform with tall fences in the back.

The children LUV this Park !!! It has slides, swings for more than 1 child at a time (2-4) depends on how the sit or some even lay down on the swing it's really cool !!! Kinda new and a different twist on your average old school wooden playground that I knew as a kid. They even have regular swings/sitting infant swings too. Also they have two Sea Saw's but each one has seats 4 children which I think is Awesome because kids are always trying to a different position in the sea saw out who's turn it is and this way it just seems like everyone wants to help get every kid a turn and if they are bored of waiting (30) SEC. They see this stick in the Sand that literly they hold onto with (hands) and stand on it and with 1leg it you spin yourself 1 is for younger children and the other is for a little older . My 7yr old luv's to climb on all the wooden structure's and surfaces and the monkey bar's too. They have a basketball too and enclosed/gated

Came from across town to visit the renovated playground, kid grousing about the trip. On arrival: "Wow, was THIS ever worth the bike ride!" Only disappoinment was the water feature was disabled (so the kids ran a bucket brigade from the water fountain).

Built with nature in mind but no consideration for kids with disabilities to actually play with their peers because of the ridiculous mulch. I honestly can’t stand the sight of this playground.
