Phyllis the owner is amazing! We called the night before ready to leave a message to our surprise, the owner answered the phone and was able to get us on a trail ride for the next morning. The two hour ride was with the owner, who lives on site and gave us history of the land. You can see she loves what she does and loves her horses. Her horses all rescued. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Phyllis! We highly recommend Foothills Ranch

This changed my life

While picking my wife up after her second ride out with the guys at Foothills Ranch I managed to get myself roped into a ride the following day.

We arrived and I was very VERY nervous having been scared of horses for over 30 years following a couple of bad experiences.

I was not rushed or pressured, and was allowed time to just be around the horses- to pet and scratch them and look into their soulful eyes, once I relaxed a little I was paired up with Richard and after a led walk around the paddock I felt more comfortable.

The wonderful Phyllis and the lovely Gwen made sure I was safe and my minor disability was catered for and off we went.

It took me a little while to relax into it, but with Gwens help and guidance I got there.

Phyllis led the way telling us about some of the history of the area and the flora and fauna while the rhythmic motion of the sure footed Richard carried me safely through the achingly beautiful country - 30 minutes in I realised I was having the time of my life.

I could wax lyrical about this experience for hours (and have) but to cut a long story short we rejigged the rest of our vacation so that we could stay in the area and ride more.

We arrived back in the UK and we have found a western riding school and I’m learning to ride - something that I would have not thought possible before stumbling scared into Foothills Ranch, it has genuinely changed my life and given me a whole new perspective of these amazing animals.

If you get the chance just go and do it, it’s an incredible way to see the landscape and feel a peace that I have never experienced - I can’t promise it will have such a profound and positive effect on you…..but I can guarantee you will have fun, meet some lovely people and the chance to ride the most lovely well behaved horses through some incredible scenery.

I feel very lucky to have met Phyllis, Gwen, and Wes and feel we have made friends for life!

We will be back!

I had a wonderful 2 hour ride on Cactus, with Emily as my guide. Emily told me all about the rich mining history of the area as we meandered through the scenic countryside, rocky creek beds, and to the base of Bradshaw Mountains. Great scenery. A very relaxing ride and wonderful company with Emily. The horses are beautiful and well taken care. This is an authentic western experience. I can’t wait to come back, as I’m only an hour away. I Highly recommend Foothills Ranch!!

Had the most amazing day. Montana was the perfect horse for me. Beautiful landscape. Loved that it was not all flatland. Little challenges along the way. Learned a few things too. Thank you Phyllis for the amazing ride. Thanks cuz for the invite.

This was the best trail ride we have ever been on and as a family we have been on quite a few. Wes and Phyllis were very good with the children in our group. They were very patient. They gave clear instructions and allowed the children to interact with the ride itself. They are full of history about the area, and we did not feel ever that we were rushed at all through the ride. I would do this again without hesitation. The kids in our group, 2 that were 16, 2 that were 9 and 1 that is 20 years old thought it was the best thing they have done so far on this vacation. A definite two thumbs up.
