We had the absolute pleasure of working with Shaley and the Downey Street team for our wedding in October 2024. The entire process from start to finish was seamless and we truly could not have asked for a better wedding planner. Shaley was a pleasure to work with during the whole process and she ensured that we felt comfortable, confident, and well informed about any and all decisions regarding the wedding process. My husband and I could be indecisive at times with decisions and which route to go and Shaley was always right there along with us helping to make decisions and giving her advice and input.

Going into wedding planning - my husband and I had a general idea of what we envisioned the day looking like but we had a hard time putting that into words. After meeting with Shaley and giving her a million different ideas and thoughts - she was able to create a beautiful design board that perfectly encapsulated all of our rambling ideas.

The day of the wedding everything was seamless. Shaley and the whole DSE team were wonderful and professional and all of our family and friends that interacted with them had nothing but amazing things to say. My husband and I did not have to worry about a thing and we could just relax and enjoy our day.

We would highly recommend Shaley and the DSE team! Our wedding day was an absolute dream for us and we could not have done it without them!

My wife and I recently worked with Kristen Nakano on planning our wedding, and we could not have asked for a better wedding planner. From the very first time we met with Kristen, she made us feel at ease, listened to what we liked and disliked about past weddings, and clearly articulated what the overall timeline (including month-to-month action items) would look like. It was no surprise then that when Kristen presented us with a draft design board based on our vision / inspirations, she absolutely nailed it on the first try - we literally did not have to make any changes and were so happy with the options and color schemes she recommended.

The actual wedding weekend itself also went perfectly, and Kristen and her team were instrumental in making that happen. Kristen made sure we kept to the schedule, were exactly where we needed to be at all times, and even brought us food and drinks (which we probably wouldn’t have had time to enjoy otherwise). They made sure we could focus entirely on each other, family, and friends and not worry about any logistics.

Kristen Nakano from Downey Street Events is hands down one of my favorite planners to work with. Not only is she extremely organized and professional, she's a wonderful human being.

Kristen's notes are extremely detailed, and she still keeps a cool, calm, and collected demeanor that makes all feel comfortable and confident that the event will run smoothly. And it always does! Sometimes there are moments when we vendors need to adapt, and she does this so well coordinating with the whole team to come up with a quick resolution that works for all.

I've worked with planners who are nice to the clients and aggressive with the vendors. Kristen is kind to everyone, and respectfully assertive when she needs to be to keep the party rolling smoothly.

For example, once she made sure everything was great for the client, she would check in with me and other vendors to see if we needed water or an umbrella (to block the sun), and would make sure we were served a proper meal with enough time to enjoy it (often times vendors are rushed to eat quickly).

Kristen is very friendly, and her genuine love of weddings, event design, and client experience shines through.

I can't wait to work with Kristen again! Highly recommend!
