Beautiful New Year’s Day hike with my wife. We loved the different ecosystems and water! The walk felt longer than 1 mile. Would recommend wearing waterproof shoes with traction soles as the ground is very boggy in many places, and is also uneven with roots. There are a few streams to cross by moss covered rocks as well. I also recommend bringing water and protein bars if you are someone who gets easily depleted from exercise. This would not be a good hike for someone with mobility challenges.

We can’t wait to return in the spring!

day21 (27AUG2024)sanctuary40:
loop trail thru woodland and along brook is about 1 3/4 mile (MAS guide says 1 mile).
north side of loop is damp, likely treacherous mud and rocks in spring and after deluges.
trail along lyman brook is terrific, a middle-earth vibe to it. pickerel frogs cliff diving off bank into stream a coupla feet down as i marched along. the brook channel was less than 10% full today.
i think the shadowy figure in deep woods was a fisher-cat.

Difficult trail in the fall with leaves covering the roots and rocks along the trail. I wish I had taken both hiking poles (only took one) and I had a tumble on some moss/leaf-covered stones over a little stream. Also, be careful as the yellow/blue markings are confusing and going counter-clockwise it is easy to miss the turn going over a stone wall.

Still, the area is very nice and must be gorgeous in the spring. I'll be back - perhaps more prepared.

What a sweet place to walk, off the beaten path. In early April, we were surprised to find so much snow on the ground, so bring sturdy, waterproof boots at that time of year. This area is covered with Mountain Laurel, so you're in for a treat when these are in bloom.

Returning 5 years later, at the start of fall, the paths were clear and easy to follow, with very few bugs. Delightful!

Super cute spot, wish the trails were better worn down because the little field of tall grass is full of ticks but other than that it's so pretty and cuuteee, coming back soonπŸ˜Œβœ¨πŸ’•πŸŒ™πŸ¦πŸ§™β€β™€οΈπŸ»

It was a nice walk. Not one of my favorites. I also suspect that their 1 mile loop is closer to 2 miles.
