I’m giving it a 5 because of what you get for your money. It is not the fanciest, it’s not the most sparkling clean— HOWEVER. If you hate concrete jungles and like to be able to have a little walk by a lake this place is really nice. The price is very reasonable. The front desk people are consistently great. We’ve been coming here for years when we loose power with three kids. A lot of times they’ll wave a cot fee, let us check in early, check out late. When you need to switch rooms they help you out. They know how to keep us coming back, that’s for sure. The pool is lovely šŸ™‚

I have never observed such a disgusting dilapidated hotel in my life. The pool was supposed to be the highlight of our stay and it was green.
The room was dated stained and gross. The towels were stained and there were a myriad of odors from mold, cannabis and stale cigarette smoke!
The grounds were unkept, and messy. Sell the hotel to someone who cares. The staff was pleasant at the front desk.
Pay the extra money and stay elsewhere!

I’m happy I called/emailed and spoke to a hotel rep before cancelling based on reviews. I explained that I had read about bed bugs and moldy bathrooms and ripped couches and no food options. Tom informed me that there was a new owner as of 2020 and then the pandemic happened. They’ve been trying to revive the restaurant since but have had no luck. He said there are delivery options and breakfast places nearby. He even specified what kinds. He told me I’d have new carpet, new beds, and a newly painted room. I was happy with the room I got. I requested a microwave and fridge as well and was happy it was there upon check in. I had hot water. A couple of folks staying with us, said we didn’t get the patio level because the heating was broken. I failed to ask this upon checkout. Was looking forward to the kids playing in the snow right outside our room. Kids had fun outside in the snow anyway and in the pool. Yes it is dark and a bit chilly. But it has a little village type feel and those two things didn’t bother me. Joseph at the desk was very pleasant and a young lady whom I don’t recall the name of.
I recommend just calling and requesting what you need and it just may come true.

The Sturbridge Hotel is a win that keeps you winning. The clerks that check you in are some of the most professional and kind people in the business, Erin being the one who really made a lasting impression. The rooms were extremely clean and cozy with tons of channels to unwind to but I couldn’t take my eye away from the Courtyard next to a beautifully shaped indoor pool with huge glass windows overhead allowing tons of natural light to flow in and illuminate the plants that surround the entire area. Our room was on the first floor in the courtyard allowing us to view the courtyard from a balcony that makes for a lovely view to wake up with a cup of coffee. As if this wasn’t enough it’s on a lake allowing for guests to enjoy so if they wish. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a night or two for yourself.

I grew up going to the host every Feb. vacation with my parents. I ended up taking my kids in the mid 2000’s…..

We were invited this past weekend to a travel presentation there. I was surprised how much it’s gone down hill. We didn’t stay at the hotel so I can’t really speak for the rooms, but everything just looked deserted. The driveway had a hole that you could loose a tire in, and with the greenhouse AND the tavern closed, I was in shock!!! Then seeing the hot tub was gone….. it’s like all my memories will just be that I guess. There were like 5 cars in the parking lot….. so I’m assuming there were no guests? I told my husband I wonder how long they’ll stay open. So sad

I’ve been here in the past but it’s been a while. This hotel & conference center is absolutely beautiful, as it has always been, however, like many of the modern-day shopping malls, it has signs of impending death. The rooms and service have not lost their appeal, but the hotel seemed very empty of any guests. There is no longer a restaurant in the hotel or even on its property (there used to be several). The huge parking lot had very few cars even with the cars of the attendees and staff sponsoring the seminar I attended. The place just wasn’t as lively as I once remembered. I hope I am wrong, but at present, I don’t think this hotel has many more years left.

The biggest issue with this hotel is misleading amenities that make u think it's worth more than the holiday, Hampton or even comfort inn. Service was great. Joe was a pleasure for what he had to work with. However I booked based on the ability to have a restaurant and a jacuzzi in the hotel. What I found was neither open/no jacuzzi anymore at all. One elevator for an enormous location. Hallways so frigid i can see my breath (cant imagine the pool is actually warm), and my wing smelled so bad of indian food i didnt want to leave my room. Parking inconvenient to rooms. Book the other hotels local if u want a pool inside, otherwise there is nothing that makes this worse. In fact I canceled my 2nd night within 20min of arrival.

A Genuine, Honest Review: Don’t Be Misled by Unfounded Complaints

I’ll admit, I was initially hesitant after reading some of the exaggerated negative reviews about this hotel. However, after staying here, I’m so glad I trusted my own judgment. Here’s my honest review, complete with photos.

I stayed for two nights while attending a friend’s wedding, and I was thoroughly impressed. The hotel is exceptionally clean with a charming rustic vibe. It’s clear that the staff puts a lot of care into maintaining the property. The lobby is spacious and spotless, with a welcoming atmosphere. There’s a bar/lounge area that operates on weekends, but the hotel is conveniently located near a variety of both family-owned and corporate restaurants and coffee shops.

While the hallways can feel a bit stuffy, there was no trace of cigarette smoke (despite what some reviews claim). The aesthetic might remind you of the hallways from The Shining, but I found it added to the charm!

My room was a queen lakeside with a seating area—clean and cozy. Though the couch was slightly dated, it fit the overall style of the hotel and was still comfortable. The bathroom was spotless (contrary to claims of black mold or dirty towels). The bed? Incredibly comfortable. I slept like a baby both nights (again, no stains, bugs, or any of the outlandish complaints found in some reviews).

The front desk staff, Joe and David, were exceptional. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help, even if it meant directing me elsewhere for information they didn’t have on hand.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely! I’d also recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-maintained place to stay. Thank you for making my visit memorable!
