This motel was better than 3 stars but maybe not quite 4. Still, it was clean the room was a little tired but overall fine for a night on the road. My one complaint is the price which I felt was high for a 3.5-star motel but then all the motels out here in the boonies are stunningly expensive. There are not many food options in this town but it was late and we needed a room so we made do. I would actually avoid this town completely if you can, there are better options in other towns.

Average hotel. Quite old and in need of a renovation. We stayed in a king bed room, which was spacious & comfortable enough but glad it was only 1 night. The hotel is straight off the main highway and wasn’t noisy but the area doesn’t have much to offer. It’s mainly just a stop over for tourist passing through from visiting monument valley. |Supermarket & fast food venues across highway. |We ate at the Hamptons Inn Resturant across the highway which was nice food!

This was a last minute reservation because we re-routed a motorcycle trip to avoid heat and traffic of the lower elevations, but I wish I'd read some reviews and booked the Hampton Inn up the street. ||The king bed has only two pillows - if you want any more, you'll need to ask and then be shamed for expecting too much. While you are requesting pillows, you might also need to ask for toilet paper and toiletries. Our TP rolls were neatly folded, but there wasn't half a roll left between the two. The folded TP rolls were the only way we could tell the bathroom had been done. I can appreciate a non-slip shower, but if it can't be adequately cleaned, it's just a sanitation hazard. A magic eraser in that bath tub would do wonders!||The young man who seated us for dinner at the hotel restaurant never looked us in the eye or spoke a single word. Strange. We should have noted the nearly empty restaurant...My roasted half chicken/mashed potato dinner was a tiny half game hen cooked to a dark brown dry crisp, boiled green beans (room temp with no seasoning or butter) and a mound of potatoes that had been smashed with the skins on. The server tried to be helpful, took it off the bill and brought me some fries, but it never should have been put in front of a customer. ||Trying to make a rough travel day better, we went to the gas station next door to pick up a couple of beers and sit by the pool. Ha! The joke is on me, it's a DRY county! Kayenta is part of the Navajo Nation and there is not an adult beverage for miles. Just keep going.

Stayed 1 night as part of an escorted tour. On first impressions I wasn't too keen on the hotel ,it just seemed run down and in a bad position on a main road . However we found the room to be big ,quiet and comfortable and perfectly adequate for our needs . |We were a bit disappointed as the restaurant was very quiet with a lot of the menu unavailable, so we chose not to eat there. Fortunately the garage next door ,whilst making the hotel look a bit rough, was actually a godsend . They did good ,cheap coffee /tea and snacks . We were able to get a delicious sandwich and a hot spam fritter for our tea ,along with pastries for breakfast. |Appearances can be deceptive, we enjoyed our stay .

I can't believe that such horrible client service even exists nowadays. It should be some rudiment from the past, but the hotel front desk manager Belinda was absolutely abominable.
I felt disgust incoming from her, as if I wasn't even worth living in the hotel and this is she who makes the decision if I am worthy hiring the room. In a tone full of contempt, ice, and superiority, that brooked no argument, she said that there was no Internet or television in the rooms, breakfast was not included in the price, but I could go to an icy pool which is not closed (that was said with another portion of sarcasm), and if I didn’t like something, I could go wherever I wanted, and it was not her problem.
130$ per night is quite a lot for a hotel room in such a remote place from civilization, and I can understand the absence of internet & cable Tv, but what I can't understand is such attitude to your customers that pay your salary.
You can find much cheaper and more comfortable hotels in Kayenta or villages nearby, where the hotel staff is friendly, happy to check you in, without humiliations and neglections. Doesn't deserve your time!!!

What a great place. Our room looks to have been recently remodeled with new carpet. Room was very big and AC worked great. Beds were very comfortable as well. Room very quiet even though the motel was packed. Restaurant onsite that served good food. Outside pool. Pet friendly. Very friendly staff at both check in and check out. Close to Monument Valley. No Wifi in rooms, but that was fine. We didn't come to Monument Valley to dick around on our phones. Great atmosphere overall. Like an oasis in the middle of the desert. We loved our stay and hope to return.

That's a pitty that I can't put less than 1 star, because this would be the only way to express the shock, deception, trickery, , and customer intolerance we experienced in this hotel at the registration desk. We booked and payed this hotel through the third-party service (Expedia) so this also might be a reason for treating us in such an unpleasant way.
During the check-in the lady at the reception desk (-she said that her name was Belinda) said that there was a storm 4 days ago, so they don't have the cable TV and Wi-Fi in the rooms (which was very crucial to us, as we had a very bad cell internet connection), and that we had to pay an additional "safety" deposit. We asked 2 questions:
1. Why didn't the hotel contact the guests in advance and shared the info that there is currently no internet connection in the rooms?
2. Why the "safety" deposit is not mentioned on the Expedia website and in our contract, and we have to pay it? We explained to her, that we are very concerned about additional credit cards payments, as we have legal governmental banking limitations for outgoing payments (even refundable) - we cannot pay more than 2.5k USD from our cards per month, i.e. additional payments not mentioned in the booking conditions don't make us happy, but ok, let's proceed.

The lady replied in an absolutely unfriendly and rude manner:
1. I have hundreds of clients per day, do you really think that I should contact everyone? (-damn yes, we think so, you get payed for this!!). The Wi-Fi is free anyway, so its' absence doesn't mean a thing to you (-quite interesting logic, because you can also say that you are paying for the room, and the beds are for free there, i.e. if there is no bed in the room, it's ok, as it is a free option. Moreover, when we chose a hotel, we look very carefully for the options, which are not "free" of course, but included in price and make sense to us).
2. All hotels in US require deposit (-which is not true), but you are causing a lot of troubles, that's why I refuse in your check-in.

We were completely shocked, how 2 simple questions made the lady mad. When we asked her for receipt (that it was she who refused to check us in) she said that we payed her nothing that's why she will not give us any receipt. And here we have to remember that we booked and payed through the Expedia, which means that she marks in her system that we didn't arrive, and Expedia charges us for not checking in.
Thus we had to spend additional hour or so for the Expedia representative calling to the hotel and talking to the lady. We heart that talk and during that talk she lied 3 times to the representative:
1. She said that we were very concerned about cable TV, but we didn't care about it, we were concerned about the internet only.
2. She told us that she was a hotel manager, so she couldn't call her manager, but to the Expedia representative she said that she was Manager's assistant.
3. She told that we asked her for a discount (because of the TV and internet troubles), while we did not.

Finally, we got the refund from Expedia and found a cheaper hotel with much better and more friendly customer experience, but the deceiving lady at the reception desk has spoiled our entire Monument Valley experience.

So if you don't want to feel all that disgust, superiority and self-affirmation at yours expense by the receptionist (because she is the boss and makes the grand decision of letting you in or not for your money, and you are just a miserable client, one of hundreds) - please avoid this hotel to preserve your nerves and health.

Stay away from this horrible hotel!

This hotel absolutely disrespectful to their customer, they don’t respect your time, health and right to be aware and informed.

It was the worst experience in my life! The lady from the reception refuse us to check in because: 1. I have asked why the info about deposit wasn’t indicated at time when I made the reservation in the app (I have to know about that in advance and this info should be provided to me at the moment when I choose the accommodation. It’s crucial to me as we have some limitation for foreign transaction on the government level and I just can be out of possibility to pay by card if there is any hidden charges or even deposit(as it also counts to the limits), so I carefully read the hotels description before making the reservation and pay a lot of attention to this); as well initially she even didn’t tell us the amount of deposit and that it’s a deposit!!! Just said “tap your credit card” (the accommodation was fully paid in advance).
2. The second reason to refuse the check in was my ask about wi-fi that didn’t work at room (we wasn’t informed in advance despite this problem exists for 4 days at least at the moment of our check in). When I choose the accommodation I have added all needed amenities to the filters and my choice is based on my needs. Wi-fi is one of the crucial points as I don’t have a local SIM card and need the wi-fi in the room.
The lady told us that she is a manager, but when the representative of Expedia call her she told them that she is a manager assistant (so she lied to me just to don’t provide for me the possibility to talk to the manager). Also I heard her conversation with the Expedia representative and she told them that we ask for price reduction (that’s not true, I only told that we should be informed in advance of any kind of services that cannot be provided). But in general the price reduction (or proposed some extras for free) is the option for such a situations when the bunch of amenities don’t work (wi-fi, tv, cable channels).
So, the lady from reception told not true a multiple times. As well as she was very disparaging after seeing that we are not US citizens. It’s the worst and awful manifestation of Xenophobia!
She refused to provide any evidence of check in refusing to us (to be able to ask for refund as the room was fully paid) and said that it’s not paid and she didn’t receive any money, as I made a reservation via Expedia - again it’s not true as she clearly saw that the room fully paid (because if it wasn’t paid she will charge us at the time of check in, won’t she?!), and the payment settlement between hotel and aggregator (in this case Exepdia) it’s not my zone of responsibility as a customer.
We spent our time to come to the hotel and to deal with the customer support of Expedia to be sure that this reservation will be refunded, then we must go to another hotel (again spent time, it takes about 2 hours as the hotels close to this awful hotel costs more than initial booking).
As well The lady said in a mocking tone "they say they paid a LOT of money for this hotel and want a refund" - sorry, but since when almost 120$ it’s not a money? And yes, I want refund for every penny I have spend! As I work a lot to earn the money and I value my money!
In addition this situation was very disappointed and stressful that is strictly contraindicated to me, as I just recently had a heart surgery and any kind of stress could course the heart attack. She saw how my hands shaked because of the stress and even didn’t propose to sit down or give me a glass of water.

Go up
