I visited during the fall in mid-October, and I think it was the best decision because the weather was perfect at 66 degrees and it was sunny. I rode the Skyfari and the Woodland train, and it gives you a better experience of the entire zoo, interacting closely with the deer and seeing all areas from above. I recommend it during that time, since you can walk around without the heat.

I think this zoo is great. I have been here twice once by myself years ago and then just yesterday reviews that are saying star because animals are not in their natural environment like don’t go to a zoo cause that’s what zoos are. It’s wild animals and it’s sad but kids love it and it’s the only way to see animals so I would not give one star for that reason like you just simply should not go to a zoo, you are able to do encounters and encounters. I did giraffe encounter both times. It’s been an amazing experience and all ages can do it. Also do pony rides a train ride that goes upon to see elk they have camel rides which is great fried dough was delicious. I did not eat at the restaurant , the prices are expensive and they are cashless but even though they are cashless, you do need change in order to feed the deer so make sure you bring quarters. We got to see all the animals except for the prairie dogs. The staff and volunteers were very nice and accommodating. I would not recommend the zoo if you are in a wheelchair or if you are pregnant, the walk here is very tough. They have very steep hills very steep paths, which is fine because you have to get to the places to see the animals but for handicap people and pregnant people it would be very tough to go in this zoo. I started to go right when I went to the zoo so we started with the kangaroos and then went down to the rhino and then all the way around to see the cheetah and the giraffe and then home if I was to do it again I would recommend going left then you start by seeing the zebras, the ostrich the giraffe make your way through the deer go down the hill to see the cheetah the monkeys, and then all the way to the rhinos and the kangaroos to the exit you would have less hills to walk up, I will be going again and hopefully the next time I go since I did, a giraffe encounter will be a rhino encounter

My husband and I finally came for the pumpkin event and we loved it! I try to go to a different pumpkin event every year and each one is so different and this was yet another fun one!

The way they had the pumpkins carved into to different people and or animals was awesome! I have see =n these types of pumpkins in upstate New York before.

The Sanderson sisters performance was so good! They did a great job trying to be the actresses and it was so cute at the end how they invited all the kids up to the area to dance with them.

I enjoyed how they had a section with lights that danced to the Halloween music playing.

My favorite part was the haunted house, they got me real good! Small but it was so cool inside!

Around every corner was a different pumpkin theme, or flashing lights to music, even a juggler, we will definitely be back in the future for this event!

I had an amazing time at Southwick's Zoo! The animals were animated and active throughout my visit, making it a truly engaging experience. It's always a joy to watch them move around and interact with their surroundings. The Deer Forest is an absolute favorite of mine; there's nothing quite like having the deer come right up to you for a snack. It’s such a unique opportunity to get close to these gentle creatures. I recommend showing up early, as the animals are especially lively before lunch. Overall, Southwick's Zoo is a fantastic place to enjoy a day with nature and wildlife. Can't wait to visit again!

Visited for the first time in a couple years with our 7 and 3 year old kids. Weather was great for a fall visit. They had a bunch of decorations set up for Halloween which added to the experience. Our family spent about 4 hours walking around consistently looking at things. There is plenty of fun animals to see. Thank you for the great experience today! -Jim-

This zoo is absolutely amazing. My 2 year old daughter had an absolute blast. Some of my toddler favorites were the petting zoo, the carousel and the deer forest of course. Just an overall great experience not only for my toddler but for me and my husband as well. (We visited the zoo at the end of August)

This was my first zoo experience. The animals were great. Lots of different monkeys, some very vocal. A lot of the extra activities were closed unfortunately. (Zip line, rain forest, Camel rides, ect.) But still had a great time. Lots to see. The deer forest was amazing and fun. You can purchase corn. And they come right up to you. The parakeet Avery was also a handsome on and fun. And the petting zoo had very cute little goats. Also has a semi reasonable priced gift shop.

We've been to quite a few zoos, but this one was our favorite! Great variety of animals, lots of tree cover, food options were good. We are going back this year.
