Like most reviews stated previously, if you are coming up 191 go past the first entrance and enter the second entrance just about a mile down the road . It is clearly marked like the first one . Once inside go into the canyon area and it is littered with many treasures . Don’t let the negative reviews stating that this place is picked over discourage you , we literally found treasures everywhere including some palm size gems . Yes , the initial parking spots may be picked over but don’t be afraid to venture off deeper into the trail if you have a high clearance SUV or pick up . Normal sedans may have issues deeper into the trail. We had an amazing time spending about 2 hours in this amazing place .

Easy to get to, don't really need 4WD if you are careful. We looked for about an hour, found lots of small pieces, and a couple larger ones, up to the size of a lemon. The larger ones were mostly buried, so you may have to dig to find decent sized specimens (or go after a heavy rain). Mostly clear/white, but some with red and orange colors.

Love this place. Very few people, an ok road, beautiful scenery, and fire agates. You don't have to walk far to find agates, and the road is walkable if you have mobility issues. No restrooms , spotty cell service. You can find agates at the side of the road where the berms from blading are.

Great Rockhounding location and beautiful to boot! Not a bad drive taking the two mile route from highway 191, rough and rutted in places but doable in a standard 2 wheel drive vehicle. Camping would be nice but I wouldn’t want to negotiate the road with a standard RV. Car and tent camping would be wonderful. Agate material scattered all over the place!

Super remote. Bring lots of water, hats, shade. It was gorgeous! 2 miles of dirt road in...I went in my 2008 Honda Civic. I made it just fine. Super slow, ruts.

Great place to rockhound. Lots of fire agate and quartz tight on the ground. If you want to find even better specimens then a little digging will get you there. Also, if you have the tools, there is an area where the agate and quartz are still embedded in the rocks. Take the dirt road a little farther, go down the hill and check out the little ravine.

The area is beautiful! Not far from Safford and only two miles off the highway, this is an easily accessible area to search for fire agates. Unfortunately, the area has been picked over pretty hard. Most anything sizable (larger than the size of a quarter) with good fire color has been collected. There are so many really small (finger nail) sized pieces with really beautiful color. This is a beautiful area with great desert vistas, views of Mt. Graham, and access to the rest of the blackhills scenic byway.

The place is remote and the cell phone coverage is spotty at best. The ground and trail are flat. If you do have mobility issues like arthritis, this trail is doable. The chunks of fire agate will be pebble sized and abundant.
