I went to Gila Bend for Butterfield Days and found everyone to be wonderful and friendly. Gila Bend played a role in the expansion of our country in the 1800's so take time to stop and visit the museum which is on Pima, the main road you'll be driving on if your headed through the area. Gila Bend opened the Gatlin Archaeological Site for tours that day so I was very fortunate to be able walk the site with an amazing Tour Guide. The archaeology site is only open by appointment. I got to the museum early for the tour so I was able to walk through the museum. It's small but packed with great artifacts, photos, and information. The volunteers who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. Take time to go through the information sheets they have at the front of the museum because there are a lot of Points of Interest in the area. I would recommend planning at least an hour to get through the museum.

This was an interesting little museum. No one was in the visitor's center but some different pamphlets told about the area. It is worth your time to stop and see.

The woman at the front desk was so awesome, she told us places to go in Arizona for great hiking and wildlife, gave us good maps, and discussed some wildlife info with us. Very cute and informative place with an itty bitty incredibly cute museum, and super friendly and happy people. If you need Arizona info, this is the place for you!

Awesome place, small but super interesting. The amusing thing was that there were no staff there so we were let in by people in the adjoining office and I had to turn on the lights for the museum.

We tried to visit September 15. It was closed. Hours were posted as supposed to be open during that time. But closed sign was on the door we tried to open it but couldn't. Thought maybe they just forgot to switch the sign. So we left and came back a couple of hours later, still closed. We missed out as we were only there for one day. I wanted to learn about the Oatman girls and see how far the sight was from Gila Bend. I was very dissapointed.

We stopped at the Museum to do a geocache. It was really interesting. It had plenty of photos from the early and a Jesse James wanted poster with a reward of $25,000.

The lady that was there was so helpful and nice the info she gave was great and she was very nolagible... The museum was really nice and very informative.. Will stop by again when traveling through
