We had an amazing day with Cruin. The information and history of the totem poles was incredible, I wish I had taken notes. It was fun learning the histories behind the totem poles and the significance and meanings behind them. We also were able to see many different parts of Ketchikan and learn the history of the area as we drove around town and out to the beach and water falls. Cruin has an incredible knowledge of the area and its history, along with showing us the natural beauty of Ketchikan. I hope to return to Ketchikan in the future and will definitely contact Cruin for another tour.

Cruin was so much fun and so informative! We had a VERY rainy day to contend with that could've stopped us from adventuring but he led us on a short nature hike and braved the weather like a champ. His light hearted nature and stories made the day a blast! Highly recommend for anyone wanting an in depth tour of the area.

First class tour with local guide, Cruin. A very friendly and engaging local, with a unique blend of Scottish heritage and First nations knowledge. Our tour was outstanding! Thoroughly enjoyable even in the pouring rain as we spent ample time watching a bear fish for salmon in the creek (August is a great month to see salmon and bears in the area!). Cruin also showed us a really beautiful First nations clan house (Saxman village). And he explained totem poles and local culture, economics, and area geography in more depth than we’d ever get from a book, information site, or museum. Cruin’s personal touch and flexibility makes this tour stand out far above any corporate tourist activity. He picks you up in his comfortable SUV, goes where you want to go (or suggests things based on your interests); adapts as the tour unfolds. This tour was by far the most memorable part of our visit to Ketchikan. We can’t recommend it enough!

Cruin was fantastic. He knows so many stories and explained everything about Ketchikan. And we really had much fun on this day. We were in Ketchikan for 1 day during a cruise and wanted to see as much as possible in a short time. Another reason for looking for a private tour is that I am handicapped and cannot negotiate the stairs into a bus or keep pace with a big group and we (2 persons) can only highly recommend to go with Cruin.

We had so much fun on this tour! Cruin took us around to see so many amazing things and had a wealth of knowledge about everything Ketchikan. My mom has limited mobility and he was very accommodating for her. All of us had a great time on our tour with Cruin. It was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to really explore Ketchikan and get a feel for its people and history.

What a truly lovely man! He knows so much background to everything on his tours. My daughter and I toured with him and had a great time! Cruin is so down to earth and friendly we thought we had know him for years. We were able to see eagles, a whale and sea lion. So beautiful. There was lots of laughter as well. When you see him, ask him about the Greek community on Greek Street!! Thank you again Cruin for a great day

Our group of 4 came to Ketchikan by way of a cruise. We had 10 hours to discover the area. Because we did not want to join a tour with a lot of other people, I called Cruin at Ketchikan Tours since he advertised personalized tours. He made time for us for 4 hours in the afternoon. I described what type of things we would like to see and the experience we would like to have. Cruin created an itinerary that encompassed all of our desires. He took us to the little traveled area of Lunch Creek, Tongass National Forest. There he showed and explained many interesting aspects of the forest and its ecosystem, took us to the outlet of Lunch Creek where we walked on rocks in the creek where Salmon were spawning. I even was able to scoop a Salmon from the creek. Of course I returned the fish to its journey up stream. Cruin was also set on catching a salmon for us by wading into the stream.

Cruin is a wood carver and brought some of his tools along to demonstrate wood carving since we were interested in this aspect of totem pole carving.

We wanted an experience that gave us time to linger whenever and wherever we found a place of interest or solitude. Cruin gave us exactly that. We were not pressed to move on to the next place like other tours usually do. We were always encouraged to slow down and enjoy.

We hope to cruise the inland passage again and definitely will have Cruin take us on another excursion. He has a lot of knowledge about the area as well as well rounded knowledge about all sorts of interesting things. He was fun to be with.
