My family of four did kayaking on the Eklutna Lake and it was one of our favorite experiences on our Alaska trip!! Carrie, with Lifetime Adventures, was great. None of us had ever kayaked and she answered all our crazy questions with helping us feel calm and confident! The lake is like no other. It’s definitely worth a visit!!

The lake is really beautiful. The locals here told us about the place and hence we went for it. The place is immensely beautiful in its own way. The pretty fall colors could be seen everywhere. Before the lake you can see the scenic beauty via the drive to the lake. It's a 10-12 mile drive to the lake view point. We did the twin peaks trail which is 2.6 miles and it is moderate. The trail does have steep climb, but while climbing up the trail provides amazing view of the mountains and lake. We were not able to finish the trail due to time constraint, as it was getting quite late and almost sunset time. A definite add on to the Alaska itinerary but keep in mind the time if you anyone wants to do the trail, it's worth the view.

Amazing destination, friendly knowledgeable people. They have bikes for all ages and sizes and kayaks as well. There is so much to explore here, the bikes make it easier. We are definitely coming back to try the single and two person kayaks.

Long drive out to Eklutna Lake, be prepared to get there from 10 to 11 am. Lifetime Adventures Instructor will prep you on the single or double kayaking rental. Just drive to the end of the road and park to pay for your spot. Walk along the trail past the bathrooms and cross the bridge at the creek.
Instructor uses his bike to go back and forth. It is a bit of a walk to head to the lake from the bldg.
It was so fun to bring my son. Learning opportunity for us. Pay close attention to the winds.

Visiting Anchorage before a cruise, and came across Lifetime Adventures as a day trip out of the city. Booked the Half Day Guided Combo Tour, but added on an additional activity for kayaking, biking, and hiking! Our guide/owner Matt picked my husband and I up at our hotel, drove us to Eklutna, and guided us around the lake. He even provided water, snacks, and lunch between activities. Matt and his employee Isaac were easy going, provided great knowledge about Alaska, and were easy to talk to. Overall the activity level was easy for kayaking, easy to moderate for biking, and moderate to high (at least for me) for hiking due to the incline. The guides were patient, either slowing down or speeding up to go with our pace. I highly recommend Lifetime Adventure’s guided tours, and its sister company Go Hike Alaska. This definitely had the feel of a personalized, local company compared to many of the saturated and gimmicky tours out there! The owner even took the time to take pictures of us during the activities and air drop them afterwards so we could maximize our enjoyment, including this photo to remember him by. Great experience!

My family and I got to do the kayak/bike/BBQ lunch as a part of our Adventures by Disney trip. The entire team we were with at Eklutna was amazing! My son fell while biking and all the staff was so great that he wanted to keep going! The lunch was also very good, and my kids liked the smoothie bike. When my other son and I were struggling against the wind and cluelessness while kayaking, the team was amazing at helping and encouraging us the whole time. Overall a really amazing experience!

Poor management and planning. I called the company to tell them I wanted to bike on a Thursday afternoon. They told me that’s fine as long as I came by 4 pm and last bike drop off is 6 pm. I show up at around 2:30 only to find out Carrie (the employee) has other plans. She already planned that day to leave work early. When I asked if there was some kind of solution she just shrugged and said “there’s no use arguing”. Seems like Carrie has little experience solving problems. Wasted my whole beautiful sunny day driving up to Eklutna and back. I should have looked at the reviews before coming here because this seems to be a reoccurring problem.

Not sure where is most appropriate to leave this suggestion. While I was there, someone fell in lake when water temp was likely 40F max. In water for nearly 10 minutes. Fortunately, that person was ok (just mild hypothermia). However, in that interim, neither I nor the rest of my party were able to find anyone who knew how to access the emergency phone in case it was serious. Further, some signs leading from the kayak rental are difficult to interpret - they are labeled "ranger station" but lead to what I could only see as a vehicle staging are (fortunately another party member found the phone)

There ought to be a simpler method of communication from the lake to the ranger station - at the very least, a sign with a map indicating where the emergency phone is located from the kayak landing site (and/or rental location).

Otherwise, absolutely gorgeous location. I wasn't able to kayak because of the above events, currently pending refund on rental.
