Our guide, Denver, was knowledgeable about the sea life and the geology and the history of the area and was also a good instructor when it came to kayaking. Katya was extremely helpful, organizing our trips and figuring out which trips were the best for us. We had a terrific experience with True North.

True North is so great! Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. We visit for rentals every time we are in Alaska (at least every other year for the last 10 years). Highly recommend!

My husband and I did the Eagles Nest Half Day Kayak trip, in July 2024. We had a great time.
The weather was perfect, sunny, warm and no wind. Had to take one layer of clothing off, before we started kayaking.
The water taxi ride to Yukon Island was very smooth and the views were amazing.
Our guides for the day, Kara and Riley, were very knowledgeable, helpful, and fun!! I highly recommend them. They were part of what made the trip so enjoyable.
We were all in tandem kayaks. Which was a first for me, took a little bit to get use to, as I have a 10ft lake kayak.
The kayaking was smooth and at a gentle pace.
The scenery and information shared regarding the Island were wonderful.
We saw a sea otter and a couple of Bald Eagles.

Would definitely recommend this trip if you are in Homer!!

What a beautiful day on the water! We had an amazing time kayaking the waters around Yukon Island and Elephant rock. Saw lots of otters and enjoyed our guide Reilly's knowledge of the history of the area. It's a great way to see Alaska's beauty from a whole new perspective.

Fabulous day with True North and our lovely guide. We started out with a water taxi ride across Kachemak Bay and then hopped into the kayaks for 7 miles around the bay and through Halibut Cove. Our wonderful guide pointed out everything along the way, which was very interesting. We finished with a 4 mile round trip hike to Grewishk Glacier Lake. It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day and we all had a great time! Thank you True North.

This tour was just OK. Our guide was very difficult to hear, even up close. When someone asked to speak louder she simply says “this is as loud as my voice gets”. I thought that was an obnoxious thing to say to a bunch of people who paid good money to learn about the flora and fauna, Yukon island and the bay. In addition, the main guide was so far ahead of everyone it was basically a private tour for one guy in our group.

Although we had fantastic weather, we did not see much fauna other than a bald eagle and some birds. I wish I felt differently because I was very excited for this excursion, but this was not close to a highlight of a trip of a lifetime in Alaska. Going on this tour with this tour company was the only activity I did over two weeks that did not get a five star review.

Great service and friendly folks! We’ve been going to Hesketh for years and always arrange kayaks and SUPs from True North. So convenient to have them drop off the gear at the beach where we’re camping. ?

On June 14, 2022 we did the Elephant Rock 6hr tour. Our guide was Tyler and he was absolutely amazing! Not only was he a wealth of knowledge he was a genuinely awesome dude. We saw so many awesome sights, animals and learned so much. The tide fluctuated about 22 ft while we were out there which was an experience in itself. Highly recommend this company and request Tyler!
