This is a great hiking area. Multiple trails with varying levels of difficulty.

Word of warning: No bathrooms / running water. There are port-a-potties, but no sinks and no place to fill a water bottle. Come prepared.

Great free park funded by the public. Yes it's humid because it's heavily forested but the towering trees provide a great cooling shade.

The perfect alternative to Oak Mountain State Park in case you can't go to that one due to paying for a ticket but that's no big deal, this is the best option.

Scenery/Atmosphere: My god is it so gorgeous, the view of Birmingham never gets old, the park usually is pretty old due to the railroad history it used to have and that makes it interesting for people to learn, there are structures too but you probably shouldn't stand or go near it for obvious reasons.

Accessibility: They have multiple trails, hiking, mountain biking, even a dog park, the park opens early and closes near evening but I'm sure they increase the time near Spring or something because it's still so cold this time of the year.

I really don't know why I haven't been here and reviewed it yet, but here yah go!! ?

I am incredibly grateful for the experiences my family and I have had at Red Mountain Park! Their educational camps are outstanding, offering kids and adults alike a chance to learn and explore in a safe and fun environment. The staff is so well-trained and always ready to assist, making every visit feel welcoming and enjoyable.

The trails are beautifully maintained, with clear signage that makes navigating them a breeze. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just starting out, the park offers something for everyone. What really stands out is how inclusive the atmosphere is—people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can come here and feel right at home in nature.

Thank you to the Red Mountain Park team for creating such a wonderful space for our community. We can’t wait to return!

Normally I've always gone to the dog park, but decided to hit the trails with the pups this go around. I did not realize how large of a park this is!!! So many neat spots and info to check out. Loved the rope bridge to the tree house such a beautiful view. ? I'm a huge fan of this park! There is a donation box in the entrance that is optional so don't forget to bring some change or a few dollars. It goes a long way to upkeep beautiful public spots!

This park is full of nature's best!. The trails are easy to follow and the wider ones are well traveled. There are many bikers, hikers, dog walker's, and even racers! Some of the tougher trails are single person trails and are definitely worth the effort. Ike will give you a nice run for your money if you're a trail runner.
There are many historic sights that seem to pop up from out of no where. Lookouts are just around the corner and give you fantastic views.
If you're for an ultra good time join up with the Birmingham Ultra Trail runners. They are very motivational and know all the good places to go!
