Cheaha State Park, Alabama’s highest point, is a gem for outdoor lovers! The breathtaking mountain views and well-maintained trails make it perfect for hiking, whether you're a beginner or an experienced adventurer.
The park offers a variety of lodging options, including campsites (RV & tent sites), rustic cabins, and a hotel. The staff is friendly and the facilities are maintained.
They also offer day use passes. There's a playground up by the tower (actual highest point) and a dog park ?
If you're looking for a mix of adventure and relaxation in Alabama's great outdoors, Cheaha State Park is a must-visit!

Short trail options with rewarding views. This is a hidden beauty in Alabama. I highly recommend glamping or staying in one of the cabins with a view. Plenty of outdoor activities and resources available on the park to keep you entertained and happy. Early September brought crispy mornings that was a nice introduction to Fall.

Went up for a short weekend camping trip. We have visited before but never really paid attention that they had any camping areas, much less 4. We stayed in spot 12 of the upper campground. Love how this campground is laid out, you can see your neighbors but they aren't all up in your face. Ever spot looked to have good shade for at least some part if not all day. Glad to see that the park is being well taken care of with a few other things that wasn't there the last time we went. Sad to see that the restaurant wasn't there but at least they have it as an event venue so that the place is still usable.
It was a short weekend (Friday-Sunday) and 2 rain showers Saturday made it even shorter.

Great backpacking & rappelling! We have enjoyed so many backpacking and camping there for the past 3 years. I would highly recommend this state park to anyone! Be sure to be equipped with a pack, water, first aid, and flashlight (or headlamps) in case you get caught out there at night!

This park is beautiful. The Cabins were comfortable and we would return. There are good hiking trails with great views at the end of the trails. One of the trails is also wheelchair accessible.

We have been coming here to camp for over 30 years. We have always loved it here. We always stay at the upper campground. It is very woodsy and peaceful. Love it!!

Cheaha State Park was one of the best experiences we have ever had camping. There is plenty to do and see as far as nature goes. There is also every kind of camping you can think of. There's waterfalls all around that have fairly short and easy hikes to. We stayed in a travel trailer at site 44 in the lower improved campground for 5 nights. Just enough space for the camper and truck. We had a fire ring and all of the sites have a full hook up. The ground on some of these sites are not tent friendly if your tent requires stakes in the ground. It is hard gravel. Call and ask about specific sites if your not sure because some of them are different. All of the main things they have listed on the map are definitely worth seeing. The lake was super fun and they have a dock to jump off of. You can drive to all of the places and park, but they are not all within walking distance. Devils Den was our favorite waterfall. The pool is also really nice and right next to the perfect lookout for sunset. The store has necessities and souvenirs but it's not a full grocery store. They have snacks, smores ingredients, a variety of drinks and gas station style refrigerated foods. They also have limited camping supplies and gem bags for gem mining with a sleuth outside. The museums are neat. The views are the best.

Mt. Cheaha is an essential stop for locals and visitor's alike.

From the beautiful views to the hikes worth remembering Mt. Cheaha will not dissapoint. Come in the late fall to see the beautiful changing of the leaves or come in the summer to marvel at the lush views.

Veterans, as of last year, get free entry provided you show some sort proof and regular admission is already cheap for what you get to experience.

Highly advise that newcomers ask plenty of questions to employees as the park being a big one-way loop makes some spots confusing to get to. You are usually provided a map when entering, so you can refer to it if need be.

Take care and have fun!
