The campus itself is beautiful and well maintained. Rooms are adequate, albeit sometimes hot in the heat of the summer. There are enjoyable activities available, especially the water slide, which is its main attraction. Unfortunately, this is where the positive ends.

We visited Kickback Ranch in July 2021 and we will never go back after our extremely negative experience. For some context, we are an upstanding military family that is clean, respectful, and conscientious of others. Even though we paid for rooms and stayed overnight, we were kicked out of the pool by management because the pool was "for long-term guests only" (which was not advertised).

After checking out of our room the next day, we stayed longer to let our kids use the slide. Management again approached us and told us that we either had to leave the ranch or pay for a day pass to continue to use the facility.

All in all, it's clear the ranch management are set in their unique set of priorities, but customer service, professionalism, and transparency is not among them. It also does not surprise me in the least that other patrons of color felt discriminated against.

I do not recommend this establishment at all and will not patronize them again.

We stopped by on our trip from WA to FL and can’t wait to come back. The sites are what I would consider resort-style and really top notch. Every single amenity you can imagine. Friendly staff was much needed after over 8 consecutive days of travel. We even booked last minute and were totally accommodated. Feeling a sort of religious vibe but everyone is friendly.

This was my family’s 3rd stay at Kickback Ranch. It never disappoints! Amazing amenities, super clean rooms and a friendly relaxing atmosphere! The owners Jerry and Mindy are such a sweet couple who make everyone feel at home.?

We only stayed at Kick Back Ranch for one night in an RV spot, but we still felt the warm welcome of a well run family business!

Our kids got to enjoy the water slide, pool, and petting zoo - they loved it all!

We even had an electrical issue at our site. I let the owner know and he had someone out to fix the issue in less than an hour - top notch customer service!

We will hope to visit again and for longer next time!!

Review for Kick Back Ranch**

I recently stayed at Kick Back Ranch and had a highly disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share.

First, upon our arrival, my partner and I were approached by a manager who accused us of smoking marijuana on the property, claiming they had smelled a strong odor. I want to clarify that neither of us smoke at ALL. This unfounded accusation felt discriminatory and left us feeling unwelcome and unfairly targeted. Such treatment reflects a disturbing instance of racial profiling, which is completely unacceptable and humiliating.

Additionally, the room we were given was in deplorable condition. We found several dead bugs, and it was clear that the room had not been cleaned prior to our stay. When we brought this to the attention of Lauren, she dismissed our concerns by saying, "It’s the wilderness; there’s going to be bugs when you open the door," and refused to offer a refund or discount. This dismissive attitude was both inappropriate and unprofessional.

Moreover, the room's humidity levels were extremely high, likely due to the unchanged moisture-absorbing bags. These should be regularly maintained to ensure a comfortable environment for guests. To make matters worse, the air conditioning unit was left unplugged, leaving the room unbearably hot. In the Alabama climate, this was a significant oversight that severely impacted our comfort.

Overall, our experience at Kick Back Ranch was marred by poor service, lack of cleanliness, and an unsettling encounter with discriminatory behavior. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and works to improve the quality of their establishment.

This business does not deserve any stars. This Labor Day weekend our family got together for a family reunion at this business establishment. From the time we got there until the time we left we felt targeted because of the color of our skin which is black. The whole staff are racist. Had I known this was a plantation instead of a ranch we would have never booked this place to stay. They walked around the whole weekend we were there trying to find something to blame us for. Some of our family members were not even allowed to check in because it wasn’t communicated that there was a cutoff time. When we checked out they accused some of us of smoking cigarettes and weed in the rooms which was not true. They also stated they found weed in one of the rooms which was not true as well. Because of this the owner Mindy has added a smoking fee of $750 which we will not be paying. We didn’t commit any of these acts we were accused of. Hands down this is one of the worst places to stay if you are people of color. I do not recommend this place at all.

I want to leave a half star. Yes, it was a nice facility, but unprofessional and did not communicate instructions for check-in and stay. I’m a HR Manager and they trying to charge my room for smoking, but yet I’m not a smoker. Falsely accusing guest to get more money is fraudulently. We asked we could come back so we can smell the same thing they smelled and I will have my company to drug test me on Tuesday so I can send my results. They charging people of color for smoking. They didn’t allow my family to check in knowing it was a family reunion and people were coming in at different times and didn’t have anyone there to allow them to come in. Yet, didn’t tell us that our family had to be there at certain place. This place is targeting people of color. Brown people please do not spend your monies here at this facility.

My family held our family reunion at this venue. The accommodations and service was second to absolutely none! Miss Mindy and her staff took the best care of us possible! Miss Mindy worked tirelessly with me too arrange the Reunion. On the day of, Shannon served as a personal assistant to our family. Betty work with us the day before to assist us in the set up. Mickie worked the parking lot and was the most pleasant person you would ever wish to come in contact with. These people were absolutely fabulous and the venue is absolutely gorgeous! We will definitely return for Another event soon! Thank you, kickback for your genuine demonstration of southern hospitality!❤️
